Hotel Marriott Kota Kinabalu (12-13/1/2026)
For my 4-day 3-night vacation in Kota Kinabalu, I chose three hotels under the Marriott chain. This first hotel is located on Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens and has been operating since July 2018. I chose the Guest Room, 1 King room type. This room type is the cheapest in this hotel. On the Marriott Bonvoy app, this room type costs RM388.
I arrived at the hotel quite early, around 11:50 AM. I checked in right away and was lucky because the room was already ready. I took the elevator straight to Level 8 where my room was. The wait for the elevator was not long because there were not many guests.
With an area of 387 square feet, the room is quite spacious. Upon entering, there is the bathroom and luggage storage space on the left. The space is covered by a sliding wall that can be opened and closed. Here, there is also a place to hang clothes and a safe deposit box. An iron and ironing board are also available here. In this space, there is also a sink, toilet, and shower area. The shower area is covered with fully transparent glass, and it is equipped with two types of showers. This hotel does not provide a bidet hose next to the toilet bowl. Complete bathroom amenities are provided in this hotel.
In the room area, besides one king bed, there is a quite large sofa on the left side of the bed. In front of this sofa, there is a moderately large round table. In the left corner at the foot of the bed, there is a cabinet that houses a mini fridge and equipment for making drinks. Opposite the bed, there is a long desk where a bench is provided for guests to sit while doing office work. A 60-inch TV is mounted on the wall opposite the foot of the bed.
This hotel has an infinity pool located on Level 8. The pool is large and has a very beautiful view. It is open from 6 AM until 8 PM. On the same level, there is also a gymnasium and sauna.
In the room, the free WiFi provided has a speed of 30mbps, while for telcos, Tune Talk has a speed of 689mbps and CelcomDigi has 555mbps. This hotel provides quite a lot of TV channels and in HD format. The water pressure in the bathroom is strong, but the water takes a very long time to get hot.
For breakfast, it is at the restaurant located next to the pool, which is on Level 8. This hotel provides a variety of breakfast menus. While enjoying breakfast, guests can enjoy a very beautiful view from the restaurant.
This hotel has been operating for only 7 years, but I feel like it has been longer than that. I am not very fond of the room where the storage space for items is inside the bathroom. The area around the pool is also not very clean, especially the tiles outside which look black. What is attractive about this hotel is its very beautiful view. In terms of location, it is located in the center of Kota Kinabalu, only 650 meters from Imago Shopping Mall and 6.8 km from Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
As usual, I include photos that I took during my stay here. If readers want to read my reviews for other hotels, please go to my section in this group. To follow my staycation updates more closely, please follow me on Facebook. Thank you for reading 😎
