Review of our Food Tour trip, 5 days hitting 30 places 😂
This time we stayed at the W hotel, I really like this hotel in the Marriott chain, because the hotel design is special boutique style, no place is like any other.
For transportation, we mainly booked Uber and MTR, use Octopus card top up money at 7eleven, or add card to apple pay pay with credit card also ok. Everyone buy sim to have phone number for drivers to call and book tables more convenient.
When I went it rained the whole week, I had a cold so we skipped the horse racing and ferry to other places to play. We only went eating, strolling and shopping.
Now is the list of places we ate
- Tamjai Samgor Mixian: chain restaurant type so many locations, everyone just google it. Spicy noodles are tastier but we can't eat spicy.
- 佳佳甜品: Chinese dessert shop recommended by Michelin Guide continuously from 2016 to 2023, dessert not too sweet, shop very crowded with people lining up non-stop, order by scanning QR code on the table, after eating go to counter to pay.
- Australia Dairy Co: this shop specializes in egg and milk dishes, hot and cold steamed eggs, egg sandwich, Hong Kong milk tea, shop crowded and cramped so order quickly and clearly or you'll get scolded.
- Bakehouse: egg tart shop super hot, line up to buy in the morning, pay first keep receipt, come back at noon to pick up, sell at least 1 box of 6. We couldn't finish so sold 2 less to others.
- Ralph coffee: matcha latte quite good, staff cute.
- One dimsum: clean shop, not too crowded, famous for radish pastry, I thought it was average.
- 春水堂: this shop last time we drank hot milk tea in Taiwan it was good, this time tomato tea also ok, but if sit down there's extra fee.
- Patisserie Tony Wong: one of the quite famous bakeries in HK, I tried napoleon cake it's good, not too sweet, crust crispy.
- Hingkee restaurant: shop specializes in clay pot rice dishes, 3-4 shops next to each other, sauce separate so eat and season yourself.
- Mammy Pancake: standard Hong Kong egg waffle, crust doesn't get soft if left out, has sweet and savory.
- Luk Yu Tea House: famous shop for almond pig lung soup, fried shrimp ball with sweet sour sauce, old style menu read vertically no English, these dishes only after 11:30 when chef makes, if go early have to wait.
- 吃茶三千:Michelin milk tea, shop opened in VN but closed, I tried in VN not good, but in US and Hong Kong both very good.
- Asok thai garden: mousse cake made elaborately, cute but eating very average, good for insta photos.
- Tartes & pop: tart recommended by Michelin, crust not too hard, filling fragrant and lightly sweet, but small bakery only for take away.
- Kam's Roast Goose: Michelin roast goose shop, go line up remember take number, don't order noodles, very bad.
- Yee Shun Milk Company: this dish eat like soft tofu, order regular flavor tasty and fragrant, I had cold so ordered ginger water couldn't eat 🥹.
- The demon celebrity: shop has 1 Michelin star, but I thought average if not to say bad, abalone dish too salty couldn't eat, but service good, space beautiful.
- Kung wo Beancurd factory: shop sells all kinds of tofu, has soy milk, order by ticking menu, but serving luck depends if correct or not 😅.
- 合益泰小食: Chinese style rice roll no filling eat with sauce, good but very messy
- 十大碗:noodles and congee shop, small cute clean shop, congee good not salty, has pickles to eat less bored.
- Jenny Bakery: famous bakery for souvenirs, many fake shops so everyone check carefully.
- Kurasu: small cute Japanese style drink shop, we spilled glass owner gave another, flan and cream good.
- Heytea: this shop famous in China cheap and good, opened in VN but also closed.
- Butterly Patisserie: bakery counter inside afternoon tea restaurant, cake beautiful, tea fragrant, luxurious space, but a bit hard to find.
- Tai Cheong Bakery: also very famous egg tart shop, but crust different from bakehouse so depends on taste.
- Cheung hing kee: bun with sauce inside like xiaolongbao. Shop no seats can stand at counter to eat.
- Above & beyond: restaurant in hotel Icon, beautiful view, remember call to book Peking duck or no more.
- Yat tung heen: Michelin restaurant famous for cheese baked crab, char siu very good, other dishes all ok
- Lady M: our favorite mille crepe bakery, almost wherever country city we go we have to eat the signature flavor there. We even bought whole matcha cake to bring back to VN, remember tell staff to add ice and bag.
- Kee wah bakery: famous bakery in TVB movies sells mooncakes, we bought egg roll and cookies as gifts, cake good and packaging very cute.
