Is the European (Schengen) Visa about to undergo major changes?
The European Commission has just launched the first Visa Strategy in history with 3 important highlights for the travel-loving team:
1️⃣ ETIAS (Electronic Travel Authorization): Expected to launch at the end of 2026 and fully mandatory in 2027. (Even the visa-exempt team must apply for this).
2️⃣ Tightening visa exemptions: Countries exempt from EU visas will be scrutinized more closely (rejection rates, overstays...).
3️⃣ Digitalization: Paper visas will gradually disappear, replaced by a tightly linked border data system.
