Qingdao & Weihai: 5-Day Trip to China's Cold Coastal Beauty

📌Qingdao-Weihai 5N4D Review

Impressions: The weather was very cold with strong winds, but the scenery was extremely beautiful. Everyone should bring warm and thick clothes to avoid getting cold. In addition, gloves, woolen (len) hats, and sunglasses are also essential items to have when going.

  1. Visa and Flights
📍Ticket Price: 4.5M - 5M round trip on China Southern Airlines, including 3 pieces. One backpack, one 8kg carry-on, and 23kg checked baggage. I booked tickets via Trip and was served meals throughout the flight. The airplane food was quite tasty, touch wood.
📍Visa: I did group visa and booked through this sister.
📍Currency: I made a UnionPay card at VP Bank and linked it with Alipay, so I just used it like that. The exchange rate here wasn't too high.
📍Train Tickets: 949.5k/person. I didn't book via 12306 web because waiting for the code release takes quite a while. I booked via the green dolphin app, logging in with passport. Tickets were also bought with passport.
📍Weather: The sun rises late but sets very quickly. Morning could be 9 degrees, but by 5pm it's already dusk and temperature drops. The weather is also very dry, everyone should bring hand cream and moisturize fully.

  2. Hotels
I stayed in 3 hotels for 5N4D. The first 2 hotels were booked near the train station because I was afraid of waking up late and missing the train.
📍Qingdao - Qingdao Railway Station Pier Light Residence Hotel: 480k/night, new room, fancy, receptionist quite attentive. There's a robot here that looked a bit strange to me.
📍Weihai - Yinshi Shiguang Homestay (Weihai Hanlefang Railway Station): 350k/night. This one I'll describe in more detail because it's a homestay in a building. I contacted the owner via WeChat. We checked in early but the owner sister was very cheerful, guiding us to see some other nicer rooms. But we still wanted the one we booked, so she said just leave the stuff in that room, go play, and she'll give us the pass to pick up the room. This room is the widest among the 3 I booked. View from floor 35, milk tea shop below, walk a few hundred meters to the famous night market. Everything is available there, a bit spacious for 2 people but the price is quite okay.
📍Qingdao - Zhanshan Garden Hotel: 641k/night. The room here is different from the other 2, we deposited money upfront and only got the initial deposit back upon check-in. Service quite attentive and dedicated. Room has a classic style and the lights here are a bit dim. But the location is okay.

  3. Transportation
    📍Day 1: Hanoi - Guangzhou - Qingdao
Only at 18h did we move from SB back to the hotel. We ate at a restaurant near the hotel then went back to rest for tomorrow to Weihai.
    📍Day 2: Weihai
Yuehai Park - cable car - stranded giant ship - Hanlefang night market
The cable car and stranded giant ship are close but unlucky that day the cable car wasn't open and that area was very quiet to call a car, so we told the driver to go back to the sunken ship section to take photos.
NOTE: THE WHOLE CABLE CAR AND SUNKEN SHIP AREA IS VERY FAR FROM THE CENTER but very worth it. I paid for the car to go there and my wallet hurt.
📍Day 3: Weihai Park - 8th Torch Road - International Beach - Half Moon Bay Beach - Eagle Head Mountain - Sunset Castle - Golden Bay Pier
Should go to Sunset Castle and Golden Bay Pier at sunset, super beautiful.
📍Day 4: Xialing Lower Road (1+3) - Fishing - Silver Fish Alley - Catholic Church - Signal Hill Park
Silver Fish Alley decorated for Christmas quite beautifully. We stopped by Oneday store to buy beautiful magnets.
📍Day 5: KACVPE film store - Red Wall - Animation Road - Qinyu Road - Qingdao Airport - Guangzhou - Hanoi
When going to Qingdao, must visit the first 3 places, very worth it. The spots are quite close, can walk.

  4. Food
Because Qingdao is close to Korea, we ate grilled food. Weihai has fresh and cheap seafood.
Above are all the places I visited in the recent Qingdao - Weihai trip. Including the travel and movement process, we only went to the places that the 2 of us wanted to go. Besides the above places, there are many other worth-visiting spots but time wasn't enough. The names of the places are translated into Vietnamese so sometimes not very accurate, hope everyone understands.
