Experiencing renting Hanfu in Wuzhen 💚
I came to West Book - Wuzhen in the last days of December, quite cold, but the beauty of the rivers and waters here still mesmerized me. I decided to rent Hanfu to fulfill my childhood dream of wearing ancient costume like in the movies. Before going, I read many reviews in Facebook groups, TikTok, etc., but still couldn't decide on a shop. Luckily, the homestay owner I stayed at enthusiastically introduced me to a shop right near the house, just a short walk away.
I had prepared myself mentally that there are many shops here with overly flashy makeup, pale white tones, so I wasn't too hopeful, planning to fix it myself if not satisfied since I know a bit of makeup. But beyond my expectations, the makeup artist's foundation at the shop wasn't overly white at all, applied layer by layer and covered imperfections thoroughly. After makeup, I was extremely satisfied. The time for makeup and hair was 2 hours.
However, the shop opens quite late, at 9am, I asked to come earlier but wasn't allowed. The makeup artist works meticulously and slowly, so I got a bit impatient because I had to check out by noon to go to Suzhou. Additionally, the makeup products are mostly domestic Chinese brands, probably most shops here are like that. So, those in a hurry or with very sensitive skin, please consider.
The package I chose costs 258 RMB, including costume rental + makeup + hair (not renting their photographer). They lent a cloak because it was very cold that day, plus accessories like umbrella, fan, etc.
