China Trip: Hangzhou, Wuzhen, Suzhou, Shanghai During New Year's
Checkin 7N7D in Hangzhou - Wuzhen - Suzhou - Shanghai
Our group traveled independently, with 4 people, right during New Year's Day. The specific itinerary and costs are in the last photo.
- Visa: I used a service for 2 million VND/person. Because we decided to go quite suddenly (about 2 weeks before), we only had time for group visa and flying instead of going via Ha Khau route (my house is right nearby hic). The friend who did the visa for us was super enthusiastic, during the whole trip I asked her many things and she always answered and helped diligently. She even helped me book Impression West Lake tickets and paid for the power bank rental for me ❤
- Flights: Outbound we flew with transit from Hanoi to Hangzhou (transit in Hong Kong) about 6 hours. Return direct from Shanghai to Hanoi about 4 hours.
- Hotels/homestays:
- Hangzhou: Haoyi Hotel
- Wuzhen: Ting Jian·Musu Private Soup Design Homestay
- Suzhou: Andu hotel
- Shanghai: Kingtown Hotel Plaza Shanghai
Stealing a bit of luck, all 4 places we stayed were very satisfactory, clean and good service. But I want to especially praise the homestay in Wuzhen. At first I was very regretful because I couldn't book a hs inside West Wuzhen as it was fully booked. I found this homestay on Agoda by chance, read reviews that many people praised the host's enthusiasm and friendliness. And it was really true, the owners although don't know English but still very enthusiastically chatted via Wechat (thanks to them I knew there's an auto-translate function on Wechat very convenient). The owner carried all our super heavy suitcases up the stairs, booked a car to Suzhou for us and also introduced a Hanfu rental and makeup place that we really liked. So if anyone can't book hs inside the town, you can consider this one!
- Some notes:
- Before going, prepare the itinerary, full documents, buy sim (I bought esim on Trip), book Impression West Lake tickets early or they'll be full (I booked 2 weeks in advance and only had a few edge seats left)
- Don't be complacent with the cold here. I had prepared some thermal tops and pants but still had to buy more upon arrival because the weather is very cold. Although I'm from the North and have been to Japan, Korea, Europe in winter but still shivered with the -3 degrees cold in Shanghai, had to wear 4-5 layers of clothes ><
- Remember to return the rented power bank before going to the airport. My friend was complacent thinking the airport surely has a return spot because everywhere in the city there are. In the end at the airport we found out there isn't, had to hurriedly go to the nearest airport hotel to return it
Above are just some special notes, there are still many things I want to share but afraid of writing too long. For someone who likes taking insta-worthy photos like me, the trip was absolutely wonderful and impressive. I can eat spicy and oily so Chinese food suits my taste perfectly, also because I researched from home, ate according to everyone's reviews so got to eat at good cheap places 😀. In general if possible I will definitely come back and explore more places I didn't have time or missed!
Thank you everyone for reading my post, if you need to ask anything just message me ❤ Byeeeee!!!
