Avoid Seoul Scams: How to Top Up Your Transit Card Safely

Day 4: Seoul
09:05 depart from Busan KTX station, arrive in Seoul at exactly 11:59. The first experience after returning after 10 years is being scammed by a very kind-looking "azuma" so must post right away to warn friends who are coming to Seoul.
Got off the train, out of the KTX station, the first thing is to go straight to GS25 to buy 03 Climate cards @3,000KW/card (cheaper than Tmoney card by 1,000KW😍), next is to go into subway and find Ticket Kios to activate and top up Climate card 10,000 KW 3 days- and right here got the scam😍. A kind azuma always holding ready 4 bills of 10,000KW standing next to the long line of people queuing to buy tickets or top up cards to stalk chickens like me🥹: Top up Climate or Tmoney at Kios<40,000KW must prepare change 1,000-10,000KW because the machine only accepts 50,000KW bills if top up >40,000KW/card. I didn't have change like that so the azuma smilingly rushed over saying he'll help change- long queue, my kid saw azuma holding out several 10,000 KW bills readily changed thinking Seoul people are so nice so gave 50,000KW bill and received several 10,000KW bills- at that time didn't count😜- after topping up 2 cards saw still 2 bills of 10,000KW left felt something wrong- turned around no azuma anywhere🥹😎.
So everyone remember to change 10,000KW at GS25 when buying the card to not get scammed like my family okay.
Top up card done climb up subway go 7' to station right near KS - go drop off luggage then go eat because exactly 15:00 can check in😍.
To make up for the scam found a traditional lunch restaurant delicious -nutritious-cheap so also okay😍.
