Vietnam Airlines Opens New Route to Northwestern Vietnam December 24th

Vietnam Airlines Launches Direct HCM-Dien Bien Flights!

✈️ 👋 The Northwest is calling, and Vietnam Airlines is answering!

New Direct Route from Ho Chi Minh City to Dien Bien

Starting December 24, 2025, Vietnam Airlines officially launched the direct flight connecting Ho Chi Minh City (TP.HCM) to Dien Bien and on to Hanoi. This new route cuts travel time dramatically, making it super easy to explore the stunning Northwest region.

Flight Details and Schedule

The route is operated with Airbus A321 aircraft, offering two flights per week—typically on Mondays and Wednesdays. Flight time is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. The inaugural flight, VN1160, departed Tan Son Nhat Airport (T3) at 9:35 AM and landed at Dien Biên Airport at 11:55 AM, carrying nearly 100 passengers.

From Dien Biên, passengers can easily connect to daily flights to Hanoi, pairing perfectly with the high-frequency Hanoi-TP.HCM trunk route (30-32 flights daily). This setup is a game-changer for travelers from the South heading to Dien Biên's historic sites and natural wonders.

Special Launch Promotion

To celebrate the opening, Vietnam Airlines is offering promotional fares starting at just 1,099,000 VND one-way from TP.HCM to Dien Biên (taxes and fees included). Tickets can be booked through December 31, 2025, for travel starting December 24 and completing by December 31, 2025.

Why This Route Matters

Vietnam Airlines' Deputy General Director, Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, highlighted: "Launching the direct TP.HCM-Dien Bien route is a key step in expanding our domestic network. We aim to make it easier for domestic and international visitors to reach Dien Bien's rich history, culture, and nature, boosting local tourism and economy."

Dien Bien Province Chairman, Mr. Le Van Luong, added that the twice-weekly service is a big deal, especially for winter tourism. Visitors can dive into spring festivals with Thai and Hmong communities, savor local cuisine, and experience authentic culture—perfect timing for Tet.

This is one of Vietnam Airlines' longest domestic routes, opening up the Northwest like never before. Time to pack your bags!
