Oak Suite Review: Spacious Rooms and Great Value in KL

Oak Suite at Menara M101 KL: Spacious Stay for Under RM100

I'm back at one of my old favorite spots in Kuala Lumpur—the Oak Suite at Menara M101. I love it for the huge, beautiful rooms at a super affordable price, around RM100 or less. This suite, once called Red by Sirocco, is now at Menara M101 on Jalan Kamunting, right next to Hotel Stripes. It's run by various hosts these days. I booked mine through Booking.com for just RM90.07, taxes included but no breakfast.

Easy Check-In and Quick Lift Access

I arrived around 3 PM and met the friendly staff right away. They handed me access cards for the elevator and room. My unit was on the 12th floor. With only two elevators and not many guests, waits were short.

A Massive Room with Bold Red-and-Black Decor

These rooms are genuinely spacious at 484 square feet. The interior rocks a striking red-and-black theme. Right inside the door, there's a bathroom on the right, with a small closet next to it holding hangers, a safe, iron, and ironing board.

The king bed area has a work desk in the corner by the foot of the bed, facing a single sofa. To the right of the bed, a cabinet holds an electric kettle and glasses—no tea or coffee, just two bottles of drinking water. Next to it is a large fridge. A 40-inch TV hangs on the wall opposite the bed. My unit even had a balcony overlooking Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

Compact Bathroom with Strong Water Pressure

The bathroom has a sliding door that doesn't lock. It's on the smaller side, with two sinks in the center. Left side has a toilet with a bidet hose; right side is a shower area enclosed by fully transparent glass. It features two showerheads, but mine sprayed from both when I used it—minor glitch, though water pressure was strong. Amenities include bath towels, body wash, and shampoo.

Rooftop Pool with Stunning City Views

The Menara M101 building boasts a gorgeous rooftop pool. It's pretty big, lit up in red at night, with killer views of KL Tower and part of the Petronas Twin Towers. There used to be a bar up there, but it's closed for renovations now.

Solid WiFi, Basic TV, and Great Location

Free in-room WiFi clocks 25 Mbps. Mobile speeds were impressive: CelcomDigi at 359 Mbps, Tune Talk at 73 Mbps. TV offers basic HD channels only. It's a budget-friendly spot with big rooms—if you don't mind the dated feel and missing extras, it's perfect for crashing while exploring nearby.

It's just 750 meters from Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (Jalan TAR), SOGO, and Pertama Complex. Close to Jalan Doraisamy's famous soups too. Downstairs, check out the popular Black & White Kampung Heritage restaurant.

Parking and Public Transport Options

Drivers: Parking is available via elevator for RM10. Public transport users: It's 500 meters from Dang Wangi LRT station.

As usual, I've included photos from my stay. Check my other hotel reviews in the group, or follow my staycation updates on Facebook. Thanks for reading!
