Missed Embassy Calls 3 Times... And Still Got My Japan Visa!
I've been lurking in the visa group for ages, and finally it was my turn to apply. I never expected the embassy to call (my outsourcing company didn't mention it either), and I always keep my phone on vibrate, so I was totally carefree about it.
The Stress of Missing Those Calls
I was a wreck—couldn't eat or sleep—once I found out the embassy had called while I was busy and I missed it. I called back right away, but they said they'd contact me later and hung up.
Luckily, two days later, I passed! I'm sharing my successful application case for everyone to reference. I prepared everything myself and just had the outsourcing company submit the fee for me (700k VND).
My Winning Visa Documents
- Passport valid for more than 6 months.
- Travel history: Self-funded trips to Thailand, China, and South Korea.
- Photos from those trips (not required).
- Bank balance over 120 million VND at submission time.
- 6-month bilingual bank statement (they only require 3 months, but I did 6 to show stable cash flow).
- Bilingual work confirmation letter.
- English itinerary (mine was made up; in reality, I went Tokyo → Sapporo → Osaka).
- Flight tickets and hotel bookings (I snagged cheap flights booked back in September. Don't recommend booking early unless you're confident about approval).
- Cover letter (not required, but I added one).
Submitted on 10/12, results back on 18/12. Japan has been my dream forever, and now it's finally coming true. Wishing smooth sailing and approvals for everyone applying soon!
