Jeju's Top Pet-Friendly Spots for Dog & Cat Lovers
Jeju has one amazing perk for pet-obsessed travelers: it's not just welcoming to people, but packed with spots designed just for your furry bosses. Taking your pet to Jeju for the first time feels like giving your little one a soul-soothing getaway, with beaches, forests, and parks offering plenty of space to romp (while following clear rules).
Ham-Dog Beach: A Private Paradise for Pups
Our first stop was Ham-Dog Beach, Jeju's official dog-friendly shore. Soft sand, gentle waves, and crystal-clear fall skies meant our pups dashed across the white dunes without crowds scaring them off. Those wagging tails said it all—they were in heaven.
A few strict but fair rules keep things smooth: one pet per person, leash required at all times, pick up after them, and only registered pups with ID tags (no restricted breeds or giants over 1m tall). In return, it's open year-round and totally free—like your own private seaside park for pets and their humans.
Hallim Park: Stroll with Your Pup Amid Blooms
After beach energy burns, we headed to a calmer vibe at Hallim Park, a massive 330,000 m² complex of gardens, botanicals, and caves. The walking paths are stunning: Jeju stone walls, bonsai trees, ponds, and palm rows make it feel like a lush resort stroll with your pet.
Hit it in fall for bonus flower fields—cosmos, muhly pink, and daisies in full bloom, perfect for family portraits with your furry star. Note: Only small dogs under 7kg allowed, one per person, leashed, and bring waste bags.
Vicheollin: Kayak Adventures with Your Pet
The heart-melter was Vicheollin, a nature playground with kayaking, trike rides, mazes, and Gotjawal forest trails. Picture your pup up front while you paddle a 1,000m canal—rippling water, green surroundings—pure healing bliss for both of you.
Each session starts with a 40-minute safety briefing and secure gear storage. Fees: 5,000 KRW for small dogs under 7kg, 7,000 KRW for medium over 7kg; big ones over 15kg can enter the park but skip the kayak. From October to December, catch the Yellow Senna festival with golden fields and a iconic red photo booth—pet family check-in gold.
Sinchang Windmill: Breezy Coastal Walks
On Jeju's west side, Sinchang Windmill Coastal Road boasts white windmills against a blue sea backdrop. It's ideal for long pup walks—wide paths, open views, cool sea breezes, and pups chasing windmill shadows in the sun.
Plenty of rest benches, scenic stops, and photo ops; clear days reveal Chagwido island, and sunsets paint everything orange and dreamy. Rules are simple: leash up and clean up after your pet to keep it pristine.
Sanyang Keuneonggot: Forest Bathing in Gotjawal
Our finale was Sanyang Keuneonggot, a 3.5km trail in the lush Gotjawal forest with its unique microclimate and rich plants. Shady paths, cool air loaded with phytoncides make it like a refreshing forest bath for you and your pup.
Photo spots galore with train-track designs and wooden frames—perfect for "escape with boss" albums. Leash mandatory, bring waste bags, some breeds need muzzles, and expect checks at the ticket counter—so prep ahead for a seamless trip.
Traveling Jeju with pets isn't just tagging along—it's shared adventures, breaths of fresh air, runs, sunsets, and deeper sleeps after full days. Real pet parents, add Jeju to your must-visit list at least once.
