3-Day London Photo Tour: Big Ben, Bridges, and Iconic Sights

3 Photogenic Days in London Using Only Public Transit

Three days in London for photography lovers traveling independently and getting around by bus and subway only. Honestly, London is the kind of city you could easily spend a full week exploring, just like Tokyo, because there is so much to see. But with limited time, this trip focuses on the most iconic London spots for anyone who loves taking photos:

  1. Big Ben from Westminster Bridge
Head to Big Ben and stand in the middle of the bridge early in the morning. The light is beautiful and soft, and it's cool and comfortable to shoot.

  2. Big Ben Archway
After crossing the bridge on foot, walk down to the Big Ben archway to capture that classic, old-time view framing Big Ben.

  3. Phone box with Big Ben view
Walk back across the bridge and find the famous red phone box with Big Ben in the background. This spot often has a line, so be prepared to wait your turn.

  4. London Bridge and riverside lawn
Take a bus or the Tube to London Bridge. Walk closer to the green lawn area for better angles, then go up to the pedestrian section in the middle of the bridge for easy, wide shots.

  5. Rocky riverbank under London Bridge
Walk across London Bridge and head down to the rocky riverbank. From there, you can shoot the river and the full view of London Bridge.

  6. Streets around Big Ben with UK flags
Wander the streets leading to Big Ben and snap photos with the Union Jack flags flying overhead.

  7. Watling Street and St. Paul's Cathedral
Take a bus or subway to Watling Street to capture St. Paul's Cathedral with charming street views.

  8. Millennium Bridge
From there, walk or catch a bus to Millennium Bridge. It offers another beautiful perspective and is just as photogenic.

  9. Natural History Museum
Hop on a bus to the Natural History Museum London and go wild taking photos of the one-of-a-kind dinosaur exhibits.

  10. Sherlock Holmes Pub
Head back toward the center and pass by the Sherlock Holmes Pub for a quick, fun photo stop.

  11. Theater District
From there, walk up to the Theater District to admire theaters ranging from modern to classic—perfect for architecture and street shots.

  12. Shad Thames
Take a bus or train toward London Bridge again and walk to Shad Thames, a riverside pedestrian street often used for wedding photos. It's a great place to grab a few stylish London shots.

You'll probably fall in love with London's public transport, especially the buses, which seem to run quite late—so you can stay out shooting into the night without worrying too much about getting back.
