Review: A Luxurious 3-Day Escape at The St. Regis Langkawi
For my 3-day, 2-night getaway to Langkawi Island, I chose two hotels under the Marriott umbrella. The first stop was this exquisite property, situated at Pantai Beringin on the eastern side of Langkawi. This hotel officially opened its doors in April 2016. I arrived at approximately 1:55 PM. The hotel lobby was stunning and exuded immense luxury. I was asked to take a seat while the check-in process was completed. I was immediately served a delicious welcome drink—my first time trying one flavored with torch ginger flower (bunga kantan).
The check-in process was swift, though the hotel required a deposit of RM 1,000.00. Initially, I had booked an 'Andaman Sea View Guest Room,' but I was pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary upgrade to the 'St Regis Suite, Partial Sea View.' In the Marriott Bonvoy app, the 'Andaman Sea View Guest Room' was valued at RM 2,195.00, whereas the upgraded 'St Regis Suite, Partial Sea View' was listed at RM 3,500.00.
Exploring the St. Regis Suite
This 'St Regis Suite, Partial Sea View' boasts a generous size of 753 square feet and is primarily divided into three main sections. The living area features a comfortable sofa and a dedicated workspace. Additionally, there is a cabinet housing a mini-fridge and amenities for making beverages, including a coffee machine. The second section is the bedroom, which contains only a king-sized bed and a single chaise lounge placed at the foot of the bed on the left side. A 55-inch television is conveniently placed in both the living area and the bedroom.
The suite includes a balcony accessible from the right side of the bed. The balcony offered beautiful views overlooking the swimming pool and the sea.
Bathroom and Dressing Area Details
The bathroom is situated to the left of the bed and is quite spacious, though elongated. Upon entering the bathroom area, there is a large bathtub immediately in front. To the left, there is a sink and a separate shower area. The shower stall is enclosed entirely by transparent glass. On the right side, there is another sink and the toilet area, which is shielded by translucent glass doors. This bathroom can also be accessed directly from the living room area (to the right of the main entrance). Before entering the main wet area, guests pass through an open dressing space equipped with hanging space for clothes and shelving for personal belongings.
Hotel Amenities and Service
The hotel features a unique swimming pool design located right by the beach. Furthermore, the hotel boasts a stunning private beach lined with coconut trees. For breakfast, the dining experience takes place at the restaurant located in the lobby, offering an extensive and diverse menu. In addition to the buffet, the hotel provides complimentary à la carte options, of which I sampled just a few items.
As expected from a luxury property of this caliber, The St. Regis provides the signature butler service. As a 5-star luxury hotel, it offers numerous facilities that justify its room rates. It is highly suitable for guests seeking relaxation and unwinding either within the resort or along the beachfront. The atmosphere is quiet and profoundly tranquil, perfect for clearing one's mind.
In terms of location, the hotel is conveniently situated about 5 km from Kuah Town and 20 km from Langkawi International Airport.
