Overpriced W Kuala Lumpur Stay: Stunning KLCC Views but Small Bathrooms, Faded Towels, and Noisy Evenings

W Kuala Lumpur Stay: Luxe Views or Overpriced Vibes?

I've been dying to check out W Kuala Lumpur for ages, and I finally got the chance on November 10-11, 2025. This Marriott luxury spot sits right next to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in KLCC, making it one of the pricier options at around RM1,000 to RM1,200 per night.

Booking and Check-In Smoothness

I snagged a Wonderful Guest room on Trip.com for RM1,142, including taxes and breakfast for two—cheaper than the RM1,221 on the Marriott Bonvoy app. Rolled up around 2:20 PM and headed straight to the eighth-floor lobby. It's spacious, colorful, and super vibrant. They handed me a welcome drink in a cute little bottle. Check-in was lightning-fast, with just a RM500 deposit. Bonus: a free upgrade to a Spectacular King room!

Room Tour: Spacious with Epic Views

At 452 square feet, the Spectacular King matches the Wonderful Guest in size but boasts stunning Petronas Twin Towers views—that's what jacks up the price. Took the quick elevator to the 15th floor (three lifts, no long waits). Bright, bold colors set it apart from standard hotels.

  • Entry area: Luggage storage, hanging space, iron/ironing board, and in-room safe on the left.
  • Mini fridge and drink station in a cabinet, followed by a tall work desk.
  • Bed zone: King bed, oversized sofa, small round table, single chair, and a 40-inch TV opposite.

Bathroom's on the right—sliding door that doesn't lock, a bit cramped overall. Left sink, huge tub on the right, then a fully transparent glass shower (tight space, dual heads). Frosted glass toilet area at the end, no bidet hose.

Pool, Gym, and Tech Perks

The 12th-floor pool faces the Twin Towers—gorgeous! It's sizable, surrounded by bar tables, open 7 AM to 8 PM. Same level has a 24-hour gym, but gear's limited. WiFi hit 48 Mbps; CelcomDigi clocked 310 Mbps, Tune Talk 313 Mbps. Tons of HD channels, but shower pressure was weak and space too snug for my taste.

Breakfast and Dining Hits

Breakfast at the eighth-floor restaurant next to the lobby offers a huge variety—I stuck to my faves. Buffet plus a la carte options. In-room dining's pricey, like RM70 nasi goreng.

The Good, the Meh, and My Take

Chasing that luxury vibe beyond the prime KLCC spot? Honestly, not much else wowed me. Toilet paper's worn and thin—time for a refresh. Nighttime traffic noise (lucky it wasn't a weekend), dim uneven lighting. Pool views stun, but bar tables kill privacy, especially evenings when it's packed. Gym's tiny with basic equipment.

Price feels overpriced for what you get, but staff service nails the luxury mark—attentive and spot-on.
