Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur: A Luxurious Staycation Review

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the newly opened Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown, from September 6th to 7th, 2025. This hotel, which opened its doors on August 26th, is a fantastic addition to the Hyatt portfolio, offering a fresh and sophisticated experience.

Location and Arrival

The hotel is situated in Dutamas, directly opposite the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). I booked a King Bed room through the World of Hyatt app for RM508.03, which included taxes but excluded breakfast. Breakfast for one person is RM108.00 (before tax), with a 15% discount available.

Upon arriving around 1:30 PM, I was immediately impressed by the spacious and beautiful lobby. The check-in process was smooth, with a RM200 deposit required. Since my room wasn't ready yet (official check-in time is 3:00 PM), I relaxed in the lobby, which also houses the breakfast restaurant on the same level.

Room Upgrade and Features

At 2:15 PM, the Duty Manager, Mr. Fad, kindly provided me with my room keycard. To my delight, I received a complimentary upgrade from a King Bed room to a Deluxe room. I headed up to the 17th floor via one of the five efficient elevators.

The Deluxe room boasts an impressive 527 square feet of space, significantly larger than the standard 452 square feet King Bed room. As soon as I entered, I could feel the hotel's elegance. The entrance area offered ample space for luggage on both sides, with convenient open closets for hanging clothes. An iron, ironing board, and a safety deposit box were also provided.

Living and Sleeping Area

The room featured a large king-sized bed and a generously sized sofa to the right of the bed. Opposite the sofa was a medium-sized round table and a chair, perfect for working. In the corner near the foot of the bed, a large cabinet housed a mini-fridge and amenities for making beverages, including a coffee maker.

Entertainment was top-notch with a massive 65-inch TV mounted on the wall opposite the bed.

Luxurious Bathroom

The Deluxe room's bathroom was remarkably spacious and accessible from either side of the bed via sliding doors that could be locked from the inside. The left side contained the toilet and a shower area. The toilet area was enclosed by frosted glass, while the shower area featured fully transparent glass, offering a luxurious feel. Both spaces were ample and comfortable.

The toilet was a high-tech remote-controlled model, and surprisingly, there was no bidet hose. The shower area offered two types of showerheads. In the center of the bathroom was a long vanity area with two sinks. To the right, by the window, stood a large bathtub. The hotel thoughtfully included a switch-controlled blind for the bathroom mirror, allowing for privacy.

All toiletries were provided, and the towels were exceptionally soft and comfortable. My room offered a lovely view of the swimming pool and the MITEC building.

Hotel Amenities

Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi

The outdoor swimming pool, located on the 5th floor, is a true highlight. It's stunningly beautiful and expansive. What sets it apart is the marble flooring instead of the typical tiles, which might contribute to the refreshingly cool water temperature. The pool uses saltwater instead of chlorine. A large jacuzzi is situated next to the pool.

The pool is open from 7 AM to 8 PM. At night, the ambiance around the pool is magical, with breathtaking views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

Gymnasium

Also on the 5th floor is a 24-hour gymnasium. It's generously sized, equipped with a wide array of exercise machines.

Connectivity and Comfort

Complimentary WiFi in the room was impressively fast, reaching speeds of up to 79mbps. For mobile data, I experienced speeds of 237mbps with Tune Talk and 198mbps with CelcomDigi.

The hotel offers a wide selection of free TV channels, many in HD. The water pressure in the bathroom was strong, which I greatly appreciated. For guests with vehicles, ample parking is available.

Dining at Midtown Brasserie

Breakfast is served at the Midtown Brasserie, located in the lobby. The layout is somewhat unusual, making guests feel like they're entering the restaurant's kitchen, but the interior design is very appealing. While the main course selection wasn't extensive, the food was delicious, particularly the nasi lemak.

Residences and Alternative Pool

The hotel shares its building with residences, accessed through a separate entrance. These residences are more expensive and located on higher floors. Residents have access to a beautiful swimming pool on the 32nd floor, offering direct views of the Kuala Lumpur city skyline, although it was not yet open during my visit. Residents can also use the 5th-floor hotel pool.

Overall Impression

The interior design of both the room and the hotel is exceptionally beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the lighting in the evening creates a luxurious ambiance. Everything felt new and the hotel was spotlessly clean.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. While the hotel is conveniently located across from MITEC, it's a bit of a distance from the city center. The nearest MRT station, Semantan, is about 6 km away.

I would definitely return to this hotel and look forward to trying a different room type. A special thank you again to the Duty Manager, Mr. Fad, for the complimentary room upgrade.
