Hui Bon Hoa: A Saigon Family's Enduring Business Legacy

The Rise and Fall of the Hui Bon Hoa Dynasty in Saigon

Tracing back in time, Uncle Fire returned to Phuoc-Kien to enjoy his old age and passed away in 1901. His three sons—Huynh Trong Tan, Huynh Trong Huan, and Huynh Trong Binh—inherited the family fortune and established the family company Hui Bon Hoa, specializing in construction in Saigon.

Navigating the Global Economic Downturn

The world economy began to decline from 1928 to 1931, spreading to Saigon. Construction companies suffered heavy losses and started selling off assets at fire-sale prices to salvage some capital. This crisis became a golden opportunity for the Hui Bon Hoa brothers to invest and buy up properties at bargain rates.

The Third Generation Carries the Torch

The third generation of the family continued the legacy, managing and expanding the Hui Bon Hoa company along the established traditions. They kept the business thriving through smart strategies and family unity.

Exile and the End of an Era

Starting in 1951, family members and their children gradually emigrated abroad. The fourth generation took over operations until April 30, 1975. In the end, the last members of the Hui Bon Hoa clan left behind their properties and lands, fleeing to foreign countries from that time onward.
