Paxtonz Suites Kuala Lumpur: A Budget Staycation Review in Empire City

Review: Paxtonz Suites at Developing Empire City KL

My recent stay at Paxtonz Suites in Kuala Lumpur, specifically from October 1st to 2nd, 2025, provided an interesting glimpse into the burgeoning Empire City development in Damansara Petaling Jaya. Empire City is a massive complex featuring several buildings, many of which are still under construction. The specific tower I stayed in, Paxtonz, is nearly 100 percent complete, housing 25 floors of residential units.

I booked a Paxtonz Studio (High Floor) unit managed by the Host Mana-Mana via Trip.com. The cost was RM95.47, which included taxes but excluded breakfast. I arrived at 2:40 PM and proceeded to the Mana-Mana counter on the ground floor. The lobby was spacious and aesthetically pleasing. Check-in was swift, requiring only a few minutes, though the host mandated a RM100 security deposit. In addition to the room access card, I also received a card to activate the electricity. There are five elevators in the suite building, but the wait time was notably slow, suggesting they might not be operating at full capacity yet.

The Studio Unit Layout and Amenities

The unit itself measured 333 square feet and felt adequately spacious. Upon entering, the kitchenette was immediately to the left. It was equipped with an electric stove, a microwave oven, and a mini-refrigerator. A sink was present, along with cooking utensils stored neatly in a drawer. Adjacent to the kitchen area was an open hanging rack for clothes and space for luggage storage.

The sleeping area featured a queen-sized bed and a relatively large sofa to the left of the bed, complemented by a large, round coffee table in front of it. To the right of the bed was a small dressing table. Near the clothing rack, there was a medium-sized round table with two chairs. Directly opposite the foot of the bed, a 50-inch TV was mounted on the wall. Beneath the television was a long cabinet housing the internet modem.

The bathroom, located to the right of the entrance, was compact. It contained a sink, a toilet, and a shower area. A toilet paper roll holder was situated next to the toilet bowl. The shower area was open concept, featuring only a handheld showerhead. Basic toiletries, including a toothbrush, were provided.

Rooftop Facilities and Shared Spaces

The suite boasts a rooftop swimming pool, which is interestingly an indoor facility. The pool itself is large and beautiful. Alongside the pool, there is a sizable jacuzzi. The interior design around the pool area is quite striking. These facilities operate from 7 AM to 10 PM.

On the same level as the pool, guests have access to several lounges: the Dome Lounge, Multipurpose Lounge, and Pre-Function Lounge. All three lounges featured beautiful interior design, with the Dome Lounge being particularly noteworthy as it includes a bar area and indoor games like darts.

Parking is available but not complimentary; guests are charged RM6 per day.

Connectivity and Overall Impression

Telecommunications signal stability in the area remains questionable, likely due to the ongoing construction. My CelcomDigi connection peaked at 25mbps download / 2mbps upload, and Tune Talk managed 20mbps download / 3mbps upload. However, Host Mana-Mana provided excellent in-suite internet service, reaching speeds of up to 110mbps download and 50mbps upload. The host also equipped the unit with a Smart TV, though no free-to-air channels were available. Water pressure in the bathroom was strong.

In summary, both Paxtonz Suites and the Empire City development are visually appealing, though the complex is far from being fully operational. Currently, only two buildings, Paxtonz and the adjacent Mossaz, seem active; the rest are under heavy construction. Considering the price point—under RM100—the suite offers excellent value. The main drawback is the surrounding environment, still being heavily developed, which makes the immediate vicinity uncomfortable.

There are currently very few shops or restaurants nearby, save for one convenience store operating from 7 AM to 2 AM next to the lobby. Access roads are also incomplete, which can be confusing for drivers.

Empire City feels quite isolated. Guests must travel out to The Curve (4.3 km) or 1 Utama Shopping Centre (5 km) for comprehensive retail options. I plan to revisit Empire City and stay at the Mossaz tower once the entire development is finished and all amenities and dining options are open.

I have attached photos of the suite. If you wish to read my other hotel reviews, please follow my posts in this group. For more details about my staycation experience, follow me on Facebook. Thank you for reading! 😁
