Review: 1001 Nights Hotel Genting Highlands Stay Experience

This week, I visited Genting Highlands to stay at two different hotels. Both hotels are conveniently located right next to each other and are part of the Wyndham chain. Their location is situated behind the main Genting Highlands peak, meaning guests must pass through the main area first to reach these properties.

I booked my room directly using a RM200 voucher I received as a hotel member, which cost me RM168 to acquire. Since the room rate for my stay dates was RM315 (price inclusive of tax but without breakfast), I only needed to pay an additional RM115 after deducting the voucher value.

Arrival and Check-in Process

I arrived at the hotel around 4:00 PM and headed straight to the lobby located on the ground floor. The lobby is spacious but felt quite empty and very minimalist. The check-in process was quick. Guests are required to pay a RM3 tourism tax imposed by the Pahang State Government. After receiving my room access card, I proceeded to the lift to go up to the 16th Floor. There are eight lifts in the hotel, though not all of them were operational.

In-Room Experience: Grand Deluxe King

The Grand Deluxe King room is quite large, measuring 376 square feet. Upon entering, there was a cabinet on the right side of the entrance housing the sink and a mini-fridge. At the end of this cabinet setup, there was a metal rack for placing luggage and an open hanging area for clothes. A safety deposit box was also located here. Two sets of bathrobes were hung nearby. Further inside, there was a long working desk with an accompanying chair. A 55-inch TV was mounted on the wall above the desk. Besides one king bed, the room featured a single armchair and a small round table placed next to the right side of the bed. This room also featured a balcony overlooking the Genting Highlands peak.

Bathroom Facilities

The bathroom is situated on the left side of the entrance and is quite small. It contains a sink, toilet, and a shower area. The shower space is enclosed by fully transparent glass panels and felt a bit narrow, but was still comfortable enough. Inside, there were two types of showerheads: a handheld one and an overhead rain shower. Next to the toilet bowl, a bidet hose was provided for guest convenience. The hotel supplied a complete set of toiletries, including a toothbrush, face towels, and hand towels.

Shared Amenities with Wyndham Ion Majestic

This hotel actually shares facilities with the adjacent building, the Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel. Amenities such as the swimming pool, gymnasium, and spa are located in that building on Level 13, accessible via Level 12. The swimming pool is large and divided into two sections: one indoors and one outdoors, although both are covered areas. Pool operating hours are from 8 AM to 9 PM.

The hotel restaurant is also on Level 12, which is where breakfast is served. I had lunch there and tried their Nasi Goreng (fried rice) priced at RM48 and a watermelon juice for RM16. I found the fried rice quite tasty, although perhaps a bit dry.

New Hotel Quirks and Location Notes

The hotel appears to be very new, and the equipment provided is also brand new. According to the staff, it has not yet fully opened, with only a few floors currently operational.

Inside the room, the provided Wi-Fi was not very stable, despite advertising speeds up to 38mbps. Similarly, the lift system was not running smoothly and was somewhat confusing to navigate. Around 9:30 PM, the power in my room suddenly went out, but thankfully, the hotel staff fixed it immediately after I reported it at the lobby.

In the lift areas and corridors, I noticed a somewhat unpleasant, new building smell, which is common for very new establishments.

As mentioned, the hotel is located behind the Genting Highlands peak. It is approximately a 5km drive to SkyAvenue. The distance to Genting Highlands Premium Outlet (GHPO) is about 10km.

At the Wyndham Ion Majestic, guests can access the Hard Rock Café on Level 50, and the lobby features a Hard Rock shop. Personally, I loved this hotel for its beautiful views and the cool weather. I will definitely return because I still have several vouchers left to redeem.

As usual, I have attached the pictures I took during my stay here. If readers wish to read my reviews of other hotels, please visit my website at https://hanuds.wixsite.com/hanudds or check my posts in this group. Thank you for reading! 😎
