Singapore Family Adventure: Universal Studios, Sentosa, and Harry Potter Magic

Singapore Family Adventure: A 5-Day Whirlwind Tour

Our recent National Day holiday was the perfect excuse for a family getaway to Singapore! Despite its compact size, five days barely scratched the surface of all the incredible experiences available, especially on Sentosa Island – it's a vast playground with so much to explore!

Day 1: Arrival and Iconic Sights

Upon landing in Singapore, we embraced the local vibe with a leisurely exploration of Jewel, indulging in delicious food and snapping plenty of photos. After checking into our hotel and a brief rest, we ventured out to Merlion Park and Marina Bay Sands, eagerly anticipating the Spectra water and light show that was scheduled for 9 PM.

Day 2: Thrills at Universal Studios Singapore

Saturday was dedicated to the electrifying world of Universal Studios Singapore (USS). This renowned theme park boasts seven distinct themed zones, and even after five visits, I still haven't managed to conquer every single attraction! My 12-year-olds were utterly captivated by Minions Land and the thrilling Transformers 4D ride, where the shaking seats made them feel like they were part of the action. Later, we braved the Battlestar Galactica roller coaster – a truly adrenaline-pumping experience that had them buzzing with excitement all day!

As the afternoon progressed past 5 PM, the queues for the most popular rides began to shorten, making it a great time to jump in. I highly recommend downloading the USS app to monitor wait times and strategically choose attractions with shorter lines to maximize your fun.

Day 3: City Exploration and Cultural Immersion

Our third day was spent wandering through the charming city streets, followed by visits to the historical Fort Canning Park and the immersive Science Centre Omni Theater.

Day 4: Underwater Wonders and Celebrity Encounters

We returned to Sentosa on day four, eager to experience the Oceanarium. While undeniably vast and impressive, my children, having visited many aquariums worldwide, didn't find it as engaging. If you've explored similar attractions in other countries, you might consider skipping this to save time and money.

Next, we immersed ourselves in the world of wax figures at Madame Tussauds. The museum showcases various zones and styles, but our personal interest lay in the historical exhibits detailing Singapore's rich past rather than the celebrity replicas. A quick tip: be aware that some sections close earlier, around 6 PM, 6:30 PM, or 6:40 PM, so plan your visit accordingly.

We started our day at 10 AM and wrapped up our explorations of these two attractions by 7 PM, just in time to head to Harry Potter: Visions of Magic. This captivating interactive art exhibition, located at Resorts World Sentosa, is best experienced after dark as it closes at 10 PM and the atmospheric lighting truly shines at night. The immersive environment, recreating iconic film locations like Grimmauld Place and the Chamber of Secrets, complete with authentic sound effects, transported us directly into the wizarding world. The kids especially loved posing with wands and engaging with the interactive elements.

This trip focused heavily on the theme parks, so we bypassed the Sentosa beaches. However, on previous visits, we always reserved an afternoon for a dip in the crystal-clear waters. The beach is pristine and perfect for children, while adults can enjoy leisurely strolls, admire the scenery, or rent kayaks. Watching the vibrant sunset from the sand, with the aroma of grilled durian wafting through the air from a past vendor, was pure bliss.

Day 5: Nature's Majesty and Departure

Our final morning was spent marveling at the Supertrees at Gardens by the Bay. Before heading to the airport for our departure, we allowed the children some playful time at Canopy Park and Changi Studio.

For this trip, we opted for a bundled package of all our attraction tickets through Ket Noi Singapore, which proved incredibly convenient. In the past, I've managed bookings through various apps, but dealing with any issues independently was quite a hassle. This time, I gladly outsourced the management to a service provider for a seamless experience.

P.S. I have two Ezlink cards available for resale at 200k, each with a SIM card offering approximately 90GB of data, valid until September 5, 2025. Also included are 20 tokens redeemable for snacks, drinks, or ice cream at Sentosa beach. Please message me if you're interested!
