Mykonos, Greece: A Honeymoon Paradise
Day 7: Mykonos, Greece - The Island with No Bad Angles
We recently experienced a truly unforgettable day on the magical island of Mykonos in Greece. Just like the colors of the national flag, almost every building here is painted a pristine white, dramatically contrasted by vibrant blue window frames and doors. For anyone who loves photography, Mykonos is an absolute must-visit destination. Every tiny alleyway and winding street is a picturesque masterpiece.
Our adventure began at 8 AM as our ferry docked. My personal recommendation is to skip the organized tours; they can be quite costly, and since the island is small, exploring on your own is incredibly easy and rewarding. As soon as we disembarked, I purchased round-trip sea taxi tickets for 5 USD, which took us directly into the heart of the main town. This area is bustling with shops, restaurants, and eateries, though be prepared for prices to be on the higher side, as expected in a popular tourist hotspot.
After a leisurely stroll, we made our way to the charming neighborhood of Little Venice. This is the kind of spot where you'll find your female companions filling up their camera batteries in no time! From here, you can easily grab a bus ticket for 6 USD (a short 15-minute ride) to reach the famous Paradise Beach. Nestled within a resort area, the scenery here is breathtaking, with crystal-clear azure waters perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or capturing stunning photos. The sand here has larger grains, unlike the fine powdery beaches you might find in the Caribbean. However, visiting during the peak summer months meant the sun was quite intense, so we enjoyed a brief exploration before heading back to Little Venice to indulge in the local specialty: authentic Greek yogurt.
I must say, the ice cream and yogurt here are absolutely divine! A small cup will set you back around 8 USD, which is approximately 200,000 Vietnamese Dong. Given the island's compact size, you can explore nearly all of its wonders within a single day. Many travelers even find themselves preferring Mykonos over Santorini, as it offers a less crowded experience while boasting equally captivating landscapes.
If you ever have the chance to visit Europe, make sure to add Mykonos to your itinerary. It's an experience you won't regret!
