Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon & Yellow Dragon Cave: A Thrilling Day Trip
Planning a visit to Zhangjiajie? Here's a guide for experiencing both the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon and the captivating Yellow Dragon Cave in a single, unforgettable day.For the most convenient experience, I highly recommend basing yourself in Wulingyuan. Our adventure began bright and early around 8 am with a delightful and budget-friendly local breakfast. For just 5-10 yuan per person, you can fuel up, with a little extra set aside for a packed lunch. To reach the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, a taxi from Wulingyuan typically costs between 40-50 yuan, which proves to be a more economical choice for families compared to the bus.
Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Entrance & Ticket Information
Adult tickets are priced at 289 yuan, while students can enjoy a reduced rate of 178 yuan. To qualify for the student discount, be sure to have your photo ID (like a passport), student ID, and a document verifying your bachelor's level of study (which can be accessed online). This comprehensive ticket includes access to the iconic glass bridge, an immersive VR experience, your choice of zip line or elevators, the thrilling slideway, and two scenic boat rides. Additional activities like bungee jumping (1999 yuan) and rock climbing (45 yuan) are available at an extra cost.
Exploring the Grand Canyon
After securing your tickets, your journey begins on the magnificent Glass Bridge. Remember to wear the provided shoe covers for your safety and comfort. On the other side, you'll find a restaurant and the option to test your courage with rock climbing. For the truly adventurous, bungee jumping is also offered directly from the bridge.
Following the bridge, prepare for a bracing walk along the cliffside, leading to a captivating VR experience that artfully simulates a hot air balloon ride, offering breathtaking aerial views of the canyon.
From this point, you have two exciting options to reach the other side. You can opt for a thrilling zip line across the canyon, followed by the exhilarating slideway. Alternatively, if heights aren't your preference, a series of elevators and shorter walks will guide you. Both routes converge at the picturesque Rainbow Lake.
At Rainbow Lake, embark on a short, leisurely boat cruise along the water at the canyon's base. This is followed by a 40-50 minute walk, allowing you to fully absorb the stunning canyon vistas and pass through a brief cave. Your exploration concludes with another boat cruise, marking the end of your Grand Canyon adventure.
Yellow Dragon Cave Awaits
By around 4 pm, you'll be ready to transition to your next destination. From the Grand Canyon's exit car park, a quick 15-minute taxi ride will take you to the entrance of the Yellow Dragon Cave for approximately 25 yuan. Alternatively, coaches are available for a shared journey at 10 yuan per person.
