Smile Hotel Wangsa Maju: A Budget Stay Near Wangsa Maju LRT Station, Kuala Lumpur

A Budget-Friendly Stay at Smile Hotel Wangsa Maju

Recently, I had the pleasure of staying at Smile Hotel Wangsa Maju, conveniently located across from Masjid Usamah bin Zaid in Kuala Lumpur. My booking was made through the Trip.com app, where I snagged a Deluxe room for RM111.16. This price was inclusive of taxes, though it didn't cover breakfast.

Arriving around 6:30 PM, I headed straight to the ground floor reception. The hotel, a repurposed shophouse, offered a swift check-in process. A RM20 deposit was required, and I was handed my room access card and a TV remote. While the hotel has a lift, I opted for the stairs to reach my room on the 3rd floor.

My Deluxe Room Experience

The Deluxe room, measuring 129 square feet, was compact but functional. It featured a queen-sized bed with a small side table to its left. In the corner, next to the bathroom, a sturdy metal rack was available for hanging clothes and stowing belongings. A 32-inch TV was mounted on the wall opposite the bed, though positioned a bit high for my liking.

Bathroom Comforts

The bathroom, accessed through a sliding door to the left of the entrance, was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. It included a sink, toilet, and an open shower area. The hotel provided essential toiletries: bath towels, shower gel, and shampoo. The water pressure in the shower was impressive, delivering a strong stream even with a single showerhead.

Connectivity and Amenities

Inside the room, the complimentary WiFi proved to be quite speedy, reaching up to 70mbps. For mobile connectivity, Tune Talk offered excellent speeds of up to 305mbps, while CelcomDigi wasn't far behind at 281mbps. The hotel offered basic TV channels, all in crisp HD. Checkout was straightforward: return the room access card and TV remote to reclaim the RM20 deposit.

Overall, the hotel maintained a good level of cleanliness, despite some minor paint peeling on a few wall sections. It's clearly well-maintained. Its proximity to the Wangsa Maju LRT Station makes Smile Hotel a practical choice for anyone seeking affordable accommodation in the Wangsa Maju area.
