Our Amazing 4-Day Singapore Adventure with the Kids!
We recently returned from a fantastic 4-day, 3-night trip to Singapore, and it was an absolute blast! Our children learned so much, and we created some truly unforgettable memories.
Seamless Travel with Scoot
Our flights with Scoot were incredibly smooth and punctual. Despite the 10kg carry-on allowance, we were pleasantly surprised to be able to check in our luggage both ways. A helpful tip: you can inquire about checking luggage at the airport, even if you've already checked in online. Just a heads-up, you'll still need to head to the airport to print your boarding passes even after online check-in.
Before clearing emigration in Vietnam, make sure to use the autogate. It'll save you a ton of time queuing for immigration upon your return.
Arrival and Accommodation
Our flight landed in Singapore at noon. After clearing immigration, we immediately picked up our SIM cards at the airport, courtesy of TravelGram, as we booked our tickets through them. We found their service to be excellent – affordable, with swift and helpful support.
We stayed at V Bencoolen, a hotel perfectly situated right next to an MRT station and close to bus stops, making getting around a breeze. The hotel was spotless. Our family, consisting of two adults and two children (aged 9 and 7), did incur an additional charge for the kids. For those looking for other options, Bencoolen Street itself also offers Mi Bencoolen and Bencoolen hotels, which you might want to explore.
Our Itinerary Highlights
Day 1: Art, Science, and Gardens
Our first day was a captivating journey through the ArtScience Museum, followed by an exploration of the breathtaking Gardens by the Bay.
Day 2: Island Fun and Spectacle
We spent the day at Sentosa Island, indulging in the thrills of Adventure Cove Waterpark. We recommend bringing your own snacks as we didn't find many eateries within the park. While the kids absolutely loved it, if you're seeking more adventurous rides, Wild Wild Wet is another excellent option to consider.
In the evening, we were utterly mesmerized by the Wings of Time show – a highly recommended experience! Be sure to pack a poncho as umbrellas are not allowed. For a more convenient evening, consider purchasing a buffet package along with your show tickets to save time and hassle.
Day 3: Wildlife Encounters
Our third day was dedicated to incredible wildlife experiences. We embarked on the River Wonders cruise, spotting adorable capybaras and other fascinating creatures from the water. We then headed to the Singapore Zoo, where utilizing the tram was essential, especially for the little ones, to avoid getting too tired.
Day 4: Culinary Delights and Departure
We kicked off our final day with a food tour in Chinatown, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and flavors. After checking out of our hotel, we savored some delicious Song Fa bak kut teh before heading to Changi Airport. Our 4 PM flight gave us ample time to relax and let the kids enjoy the airport's attractions.
Practical Tips for Your Trip
Stay hydrated! Drinking water is readily available throughout Singapore. Just bring your own reusable bottle and refill it from the direct taps – no need to buy bottled water.
For breakfast, we enjoyed the local fare at Hong Lim Hawker Centre, and in the evenings, Chinatown offered plenty of dining choices. While we packed some instant noodles as we found the local flavors a bit different, the kids absolutely adored kaya toast.
A huge thank you to TravelGram for being a wonderful partner on our unforgettable Singapore journey!
