Nhiêu Lộc Ward, Saigon: A Food Lover's Guide to Delicious Eats Near the Canal

Savoring the Flavors Around Nhiêu Lộc Ward

The once notorious Nhiêu Lộc canal, known for its pollution, has lent its name to a vibrant new ward in District 3, formed by the merger of four former wards. This area, which once flowed as the narrower beginning of the Nhiêu Lộc-Thị Nghè channel, a humble ditch behind Nguyễn Thượng Hiền school, traversed five parishes in the Ông Tạ area before becoming known as Thị Nghè at the Bông Bridge. Following the 1968 Mậu Thân offensive, increased population density led to significant pollution, turning the canal waters dark.

A monumental revitalization project for the Nhiêu Lộc canal commenced in 1993, spanning a decade. Today, Ward Nhiêu Lộc encompasses the stretch of the canal flowing through District 3, from the railway gate number 6, across Lê Văn Sĩ and Nguyễn Văn Trỗi streets, over Công Lý Bridge to Lý Chính Thắng, and then turning onto Nguyễn Thông street.

Boasting a prime location, Ward Nhiêu Lộc has blossomed into a prime destination for food enthusiasts. Here's a taste of what awaits:
