Great news for travelers! Starting July 18th, Da Nang International Airport is rolling out a fantastic new system that lets passengers breeze through domestic flight check-ins using the VNeID app. Say goodbye to fumbling for physical documents; your digital identity is all you need.
Your Digital Boarding Pass: Effortless and Secure
The airport is partnering with Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air to offer this paperless experience for domestic flights. All you need is a Level 2 VNeID account and the latest version of the app. This means you can check in, verify your identity, and board your flight without ever needing to show your ID at any point.
The Simple Three-Step Process
Getting through the airport is now a streamlined three-step journey:
- First, complete your check-in using VNeID directly on your smartphone or at a dedicated support counter.
- Next, authenticate your identity with facial recognition at the security checkpoint, powered by integrated biometric technology.
- Finally, a last check at the boarding gate will automatically open the way to your aircraft if your biometrics match, allowing you to board without any further document checks or direct interaction with staff.
Innovating for a Smarter Airport Experience
This groundbreaking application of biometric technology at Da Nang Airport is designed to significantly cut down waiting times, minimize physical contact, and enhance overall safety. While this new system promises a smoother travel experience, it's still a good idea to carry your citizen ID card or passport, just in case of any unforeseen technical glitches.
Airport officials are enthusiastic about this development, confirming that the integration of facial recognition is a key part of their vision for a smart airport. Plans are already in motion to expand this service to other airlines and eventually to international routes.
A Proven Path Forward
This initiative builds on successful trials conducted earlier this year. On April 16th and 17th, Vietnam Airlines, in collaboration with the Department of Administrative Procedures for Social Order Police (C06 – Ministry of Public Security) and Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), conducted successful biometric check-in procedures at Noi Bai International Airport's T1 terminal and Tan Son Nhat International Airport's T3 terminal. These tests paved the way for the exciting advancements now available at Da Nang.
