Visiting the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok: Making Your Wishes Come True! 🌸

📍 Erawan Shrine – near Central World, Chit Lom BTS Station

The Sacred Erawan Shrine

The Erawan Shrine, also known as the Four-Faced Buddha shrine, is a supremely sacred place in Bangkok. Both Thai locals and visitors from around the globe deeply believe in its power to grant prayers.

This shrine houses a statue of Brahma, the Great Brahma God, with four faces. Each face represents a specific wish in life:

  • Face 1 – Career, position, and education
  • Face 2 – Love, relationships, and family
  • Face 3 – Wealth, business, and money
  • Face 4 – Health, peace, and children

How to Properly Pray at the Erawan Shrine (Thai Style)

Follow these steps for an authentic experience:

  1. Purchase Offerings: Sets are sold right at the entrance and typically include:

    • Incense, candles, and marigold garlands (usually ฿200–500 depending on the set)
    • Small elephant statues, figurines, or flowers for offering (elephant statues from ฿50, larger statues from ฿500–1000)

📌 No need to light the incense/candles – simply place them in their designated spots!

  2. Order of Prayer (Very Important!):

✅ Start from the main face (the one with the god's feet pointing straight down to the ground)

➡️ Offer one garland, one candle, and three incense sticks to each face.

➡️ Kneel, clasp your hands together, and clearly state your full name, date of birth, address + your specific wish + your commitment if your wish is fulfilled.

➡️ Pray clockwise to all four faces.

  3. Completion: Return to the main face and conclude your prayer.

Important Notes When Praying

  • The more sincere and clear you are, the more likely your wish is to be granted.
  • "Keep your promises" – the Erawan Shrine is extremely powerful, so don't make empty promises!
  • Once your wish comes true, you can return to the shrine to give thanks by hiring Thai dancers to perform (available inside the shrine), offering elephants, flowers, or making a donation.
