Singapore Adventure: A Family Trip with Kids!
Our family of seven, including the little ones, recently explored Singapore for 4 days and 3 nights. To make things easier with a larger group, we relied on Travelgram to book our hotel, phone SIMs, and attraction tickets. It saved us so much time and effort! I'm sharing our experience in detail, hoping it will be helpful for families planning a visit to the Lion City!
Hotel: HOTEL CALMO BUGIS
The location was fantastic! Right in the Bugis area, super convenient for buses, close to the MRT, and surrounded by lively food options.
- Plus, it's near the legendary Ah Chew Dessert – a must-try when in Singapore!
- We booked two Deluxe Quad Rooms (2 beds/room, breakfast not included) through Travelgram for 23,500,000 VND for 3 nights.
- Note: The hotel requires a deposit (refundable upon check-out if everything is in order).
SIM Card
We bought a Singtel 4G SIM card through Travelgram and picked it up at Changi Airport.
- Cost: 199,000 VND/SIM. The connection was stable and reliable, perfect for navigating maps and booking rides.
Getting Around
We used a combination of buses, MRT, and Grab:
- Download the Moovit app – I found it more accurate and easier to use than Google Maps.
Universal Studios Singapore (USS)
IMPORTANT: Buy your tickets directly from the official Universal Studios website to get early entry – one hour before the general opening time! This is the secret to enjoying more popular rides without long queues!
Ride Transformers, Jurassic Park, and Revenge of the Mummy first to avoid long waits. Transformers is incredibly fun – kids and adults loved it! Jurassic Park is a river raft ride that will get you wet (bring a raincoat to avoid buying one). Revenge of the Mummy is an indoor roller coaster – very fast, with lots of twists and turns, and fire effects – NOT recommended for young children or anyone afraid of intense thrills. It was terrifying!
The most amazing show at USS is WaterWorld – an outdoor action show. Absolutely breathtaking!
We finished most of the rides and shows by 2 PM – a good time to leave, avoiding the heat and fatigue.
Food & Drinks
Singapore is a food paradise, with reasonable prices and a wide variety of cuisines, from traditional to modern.
My 3 Favorite Spots:
- 4-Fingers Crispy Chicken – incredibly delicious, crispy, flavorful, and addictive!
- Chili Crab at Keng Eng Kee Seafood – truly the best!
- Note: Reservations are highly recommended. We arrived at 6 PM and didn't get a table until 8 PM, but it was worth the wait!
- Din Tai Fung – a famous Chinese restaurant. Everything is delicious, but it's a bit pricey. The quality is excellent.
Other Dishes Worth Trying:
- Salted Egg Chicken with Rice at 3 Meals A Day – crispy chicken with rich, creamy salted egg sauce, perfect with white rice. Affordable, generous portions, and kid-friendly.
- Satay (Indian-style grilled skewers) at Lau Pa Sat – cheap, delicious, and flavorful.
- Geylang Frog Porridge – authentic and flavorful.
- Hawker Chan Chicken Rice – Michelin-starred street food at affordable prices.
- Toast Box – Singapore's classic butter toast and coffee – so addictive!
Conclusion
Singapore is a fantastic destination for families with young children:
- The public transportation system is extremely convenient, easy to use, and clean.
- The cuisine is diverse and appealing to Vietnamese palates.
- The air is clean, it's safe, and children can play freely.
This trip made me fall in love with Singapore! I will definitely return!
I hope you have a wonderful trip and create many memorable experiences like my family did! 💕
