Seoul Subway Fare Increase Coming June 28th
Heads up, Seoul commuters! Starting June 28th, your subway rides in Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area will cost a bit more. Get ready for a slight adjustment to your fare.
New Subway Fares (Card Payments)
- Adults: Moving from 1,400 won to 1,550 won
- Teenagers: Shifting from 800 won to 900 won
- Children: Changing from 500 won to 550 won
Single-Journey Tickets (Cash Payments)
- Adults & Teenagers: Increasing from 1,500 won to 1,650 won
- Children: Adjusting from 500 won to 550 won
Early Bird Fares (Before 6:30 AM)
- Adults: Going from 1,120 won to 1,240 won
- Teenagers: Rising from 640 won to 720 won
- Children: Climbing from 400 won to 440 won
This adjustment follows a previous fare increase in October 2023, when prices went from 1,250 won to 1,400 won. Seoul had originally planned another 150 won increase earlier this year, but disagreements with Gyeonggi province and pressure from the central government to control prices led to a delay.
