Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Appear on City Streets

V-Green Deploys Chargers in Ho Chi Minh City

Workers are putting the finishing touches on new fast charging stations for electric vehicles along several streets in Ho Chi Minh City, preparing them for public use. These charging stations are being installed by V-Green, the company responsible for operating the VinFast charging network.

Strategic Locations for Charging Infrastructure

Current installation locations include Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street (behind the Independence Palace), Le Lai Street (near Le Thi Nghia Park), Le Van Tam Park, and the area surrounding the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House. The Opera House station is scheduled to go live in July, while the other three locations have been operational since June.

High-Powered Charging Technology

The charging stations are stand-up units utilizing DC 120 kW fast charging technology. They operate on a 3-phase, 400V AC power supply, providing an output voltage of 200-1000V DC. Each charging station is equipped with two charging guns, allowing for simultaneous charging of two vehicles.

Convenient Parking and Payment Systems

Almost all charging locations offer cashless paid parking, facilitated through the MyParking app or RFID technology (deducting funds from a VETC e-wallet account). Parking fees range from VND 20,000 to VND 25,000 per hour.

Promoting Electric Vehicle Adoption

Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are actively promoting policies to encourage the transition from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles, initially focusing on motorcycles and ride-hailing vehicles. Expanding the availability of charging stations in greater numbers and more convenient locations is expected to be a key incentive for individual consumers to make the switch to electric mobility.
