Italy: A 10-Day Love Affair ☀️🇮🇹❤️
"La Dolce Vita" - A Journey of Art, Love, and Unforgettable Sights
Back to reality after diving headfirst into a real-life romantic novel – that's how I'd describe my recent trip to Italy. It was a dream of art, love, nature, and stunning architecture all woven together! From the eternal city of Rome to the soulful Florence, dreamy Venice, glamorous Milan, vibrant Napoli, and the picture-perfect towns of the Amalfi Coast, each place stole a little piece of my heart. 🥰 I'm sharing my journey, my feelings, and a *fantastic* itinerary, especially with Vietnam Airlines launching direct flights to Milan from July 1st, 2025 – so much easier than the transit chaos I experienced!
My 10-Day Italian Adventure 🌿🍦🍕
☀️Days 1-2: Rome – The City of Dreams
I landed in Rome, where every corner tells a story. Returning to the Vatican for the second time, I was still awestruck by its magnificent architecture and classic artwork. The next day, I visited the shimmering Trevi Fountain to toss in my coin and the majestic Colosseum. Wandering through the small alleys of Rome with a Venchi Gelato in hand, I felt like I was living in the movie "Roman Holiday". 🎀🍦
☀️Days 3-4: Florence and Pisa – Tuscany's Gems
Florence, known as the birthplace of the Renaissance, captivated me with its classic, gentle, and chill vibes. Having visited three times now, I always make the trek from the center to Piazzale Michelangelo for panoramic city views. The view from the square is incredible, but the walk up is even more charming! 🌿 Every morning, we enjoyed relaxing at a cafe beside the Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore – the third largest church in the world with breathtaking Gothic architecture. In the afternoons, we strolled along the river, admiring the Ponte Vecchio. The next day, I visited Pisa, playing photographer as people pretended to hold up the Leaning Tower and "ate" ice cream cones shaped like the tower… so many laughs!
☀️Days 5-6: Venice – City of Canals
Venice, a city of shimmering canals winding through every street, the magnificent Piazza San Marco, and the rainbow-colored Burano Island. 🌈 I rode a gondola through the hidden waterways. While the photos look amazing, the experience itself wasn't as thrilling as I remembered. Seven years ago, the gondoliers seemed handsome and friendly, inspiring me to try it. This time, the water was a bit smelly @.@ and the Italian gondolier, while still handsome, was a bit grumpy, making it hard to get a great photo ahuhu. But it's a gem of Italy, and you should visit Venice at least once in your life! I'll share some tips for chilling in Venice another time 😉
☀️Days 7-8: Milan and Day Trips to Varenna, Bellagio
Milan greeted me with high-fashion vibes and the energy of a bustling city. The Duomo di Milano is magnificent, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is stylish, and the Navigli district is incredibly chill. Early one morning, with Milan all to myself, I took a day trip to Varenna and Bellagio on Lake Como – two picturesque villages that look like watercolor paintings! Varenna is peaceful with pastel houses covered in bougainvillea, while Bellagio is lively on the turquoise lake. 🥰 This was my favorite part of the entire trip to Italy, even though I stood for 1.5 hours on the train from Milan to Varenna during peak tourist season and wandered alone in the crazy Italian summer heat. But Lake Como was worth traveling thousands of miles to enjoy a plate of pasta & watch the sunset with chirping birds, or sit on the steps of a small alley overlooking the sparkling lake with a pitaschio gelato in hand. 😌
☀️Days 9-10: Napoli and Day Trips to Positano, Amalfi
I arrived in Napoli, the heart of the South, known for its hot Margherita pizza and colorful alleyways. At first, I felt overwhelmed by the unique mix of ancient, bustling, and somewhat "gritty" vibes of an old port city. 🙈 On my last day, I took day trips to Positano and Amalfi: pastel houses perched on cliffs, turquoise sea, and vibrant bougainvillea. In Positano, I swam, ate seafood, wore a lemon-print dress, and ate amazing lemon gelato!
