Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya: A Relaxing Getaway
A Favorite Stay in Putrajaya
Palm Garden Hotel in Putrajaya has become a personal favorite. There's something incredibly comforting about the lush greenery that surrounds this hotel. Stepping into the courtyard immediately brings a sense of peace and relaxation. Even though it's an open-air space, it's surprisingly breezy and comfortable.
I highly recommend visiting the courtyard both in the morning and at night to experience completely different atmospheres. Mornings offer a serene escape-from-the-city vibe, while evenings transform the space into a romantic haven with soft lighting and an enchanting ambiance. The courtyard is truly a relaxing spot, and it's also home to Kopi Dulu, a perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea with local delicacies, snacks, coffee, and tea.
The Spacious Areca Room
This time, I opted for the Areca Room, a significantly larger space. At 495 square feet, it features a king-size bed, a comfortable sofa, a living room area, a dining space, and even a dry kitchen. It practically feels like a suite! The bed was incredibly comfortable, with soft pillows, and the room was impeccably clean. The view from the room overlooked a road lined with verdant greenery. Amenities included a mini-fridge, a capsule coffee machine, a safe, ironing facilities, a kettle, and a hairdryer – all in perfect working order. The bathroom boasted modern fixtures, including a shower and toilet with a bidet integrated into the toilet bowl. The shower foam and shampoo had a pleasant, slightly masculine scent, reminiscent of woody and citrus notes. I was extremely satisfied with the Areca Room; it was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean.
Durian Hub at Palm Garden
During my stay, the hotel launched the Durian Hub, a collaboration with Agro Best Service Malaysia, a company specializing in the sale and export of premium durians throughout ASEAN. The Durian Hub is open every Friday to Sunday, from 5 PM to 9 PM. While I am not a huge durian fan, I was intrigued by their stories about the durian farm located in Balik Pulau. They offered several varieties, including Musang King, Black Thorn, and Udang Merah, as well as local fruits like mangosteen and rambutan. Prices are based on current market rates. You can also order Ais Kacang from Kopi Dulu. The portion is generous, ideal for sharing among three or four people, and you can add durian as a topping. There's also a live busker performance at 7 PM.
Dining Experiences: Grill Nites and Breakfast
After the durian feast, I had dinner at Palm Cafe to try their Grill Nites Buffet. Priced at RM98 nett for adults and RM78 for children, the buffet is available only on Fridays and Saturdays, from 6:30 PM to 10 PM. The highlight is the Thai cuisine, but I am personally a fan of Western food. I sampled several dishes, including Lamb Black Pepper, Chicken Wings, Grilled Squid, Mashed Potato, Seafood on Ice, Salads, and a variety of cakes. Everything was delicious! The food here is consistently great. For breakfast, I returned to Palm Cafe to explore the local menu. I tried Nasi Lemak, Nasi Goreng, Daging Masak Hitam, and Rendang Ayam. I particularly enjoyed the Daging Masak Hitam; the beef was incredibly tender, and the sauce was flavorful. Avocado and Smoked Salmon were extremely popular during breakfast, and the staff kept replenishing them frequently. Drink options included coffee, fruit juice, detox smoothies, and tea. The pastries were also delicious, with a rich buttery flavor and just the right amount of sweetness.
Poolside Relaxation and Kid Zone
Before checking out, I relaxed in a cabana by the swimming pool. Palm Garden offers two types of swimming pools, a kids' pool with slides. The adult pool has plenty of seating for lounging. There is also a new attraction called Kid Zone, but I didn't have time to visit it. For parents visiting Palm Garden, this fully air-conditioned indoor playground is located opposite the gym. A stay here always feels too short; one day is never enough. There's a wide selection of delicious food, and the location is conveniently close to IOI City Mall. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle bus every hour, which drops you off at the Moxy Hotel next to the shopping mall. I hope this information is helpful.
