What's the Deal with Isopods?
These crustaceans live in the deep waters (over 700m) off the coast of Kaohsiung. Their appearance might remind you of an alien creature, with 14 legs and a hard, armor-like shell. Despite their unusual look, the meat is described as a delicious cross between king crab and lobster – juicy, fragrant, sweet, slightly fatty, and not fishy at all!
A Limited-Edition Ramen Experience

This ramen is exclusive! It's only available to regular customers who make reservations in advance, and only a limited number are served each day. Each bowl is a work of art, featuring a rich and naturally sweet broth made from chicken and dried tuna flakes. Surprisingly, the isopod itself isn't used to make the broth.
The isopod is carefully cleaned, and the fatty "yellow gland" (similar to crab roe) is preserved before steaming. When served, the entire isopod is placed on top of the steaming ramen, creating a visually stunning and incredibly Instagrammable food moment.
