Grand Ion Element: A Quick Getaway to Genting Highlands
Studio Apartment Review (Queen Bed)
Just got back from a short and sweet leisure trip to Genting Highlands, staying at the Grand Ion Element by Horizon Homes. Here's a rundown of my experience.
Check-In Dates: May 29-31, 2025
Location: Approximately 15 minutes uphill from Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park.
Price: RM 255 for 2 nights (Room Only)
Checking In
- Collect your access card for parking, room door, and elevators at the Mynews outlet downstairs.
- Parking is free, and there are plenty of parking spaces available.
- A deposit of RM 100 is required (cash or bank transfer).
- The check-in process is a little convoluted. You need to switch elevators from the main hotel building to a separate tower to reach your room.
The Room
The room is a studio style apartment, complete with a kitchenette. It includes a kitchen cabinet, mini fridge, sink, microwave, and induction multicooker. A water heater is also provided.
- You'll find glassware, a ladle, knife, and IKEA plastic plates.
- Every room has a balcony. This particular room faced Gunung Bunga Buah.
- Air conditioning is available.
- The bathroom has a hot shower.
- Don't expect much in the way of basic amenities. Shampoo and soap are provided in dispensers.
- Two futon mattresses are provided, along with thick blankets.
- The TV channel selection leaves much to be desired.
Facilities
- There's an indoor swimming pool on Level 7, and an open-air 'Sky Garden'.
- Pack your own snacks, as items here are quite expensive (as expected). There's a restaurant, but its halal status is questionable due to the majority of staff being foreign nationals.
- I didn't explore other facilities.
Checking Out
Return the access card to get your deposit back.
Overall Impression
The room was comfortable overall. I might return due to the affordable price compared to other hotels in the area. Enjoy your trip to Genting!
