Applying for a Taiwan Visa: A Simple Guide
So, you're thinking of visiting Taiwan? Awesome! Applying for a visa might seem daunting, but it's actually pretty straightforward. I'm sharing my experience to help you prepare your documents without a hassle. You can probably get everything ready in about a day!
1. Personal Documents
-
Passport: One original passport valid for at least six months with two blank pages (signed!). Bring a regular photocopy along with your old passport (if applicable). They'll want to see the original.
-
Photos: Two passport-sized photos (3x4cm or 4x6cm are both fine) with a white background.
-
Citizen ID: Your new chip-based Citizen ID card. They'll use this to verify your information.
2. Proof of Employment
-
Labor Contract: A photocopy of your labor contract. Remember to bring the original for comparison.
-
Health Insurance & Social Insurance: Log in to the VSSID app, print the information displayed, and present the app for verification when submitting your documents.
-
Leave Request Letter: An original leave request letter with your company's official stamp. HR usually has a template.
3. Proof of Income
-
Savings Account: I opted for a physical savings book with 50 million VND, along with a photocopy. Bring the original for verification. Many people said a physical book is preferable.
-
Salary Statements: Salary statements for the last three months or income verification from your company with the company's official seal. Ask HR for a template.
-
Bank Statements: Bank statements showing your salary deposits for the last three months with the bank's stamp. You can get these at the bank for a small fee per page. A photocopy is fine for submission.
4. Application Form and Booking Information
-
Visa Application Form: Fill out the online visa application form and print it out, then sign it. Make sure the phone number and address you provide for Taiwan match the hotel information in your hotel booking.

Flight and Hotel Bookings: I booked everything on Trip.com. After booking, you'll receive confirmation emails with attachments. Print these out and include them with your documents.
-
Travel Itinerary: Make sure the hotel name on your itinerary matches the hotel name in your booking and on the visa application form. A bilingual itinerary can be helpful.
