Taipei Hostel Review: Perfect for Two Travelers!
Hey everyone! I'm super excited to share my experiences at two amazing hostels I stayed at with a friend during my trip to Taipei in early March. 😊 If you're planning a trip to Taipei and looking for great accommodation, you've come to the right place!
For those of you who might be interested, I did write another review of some Taipei hostels from my longer trip to Taiwan last year. Feel free to check it out by clicking on my name!
1️⃣ Wonder Time Hostel (Beiche 3 Branch) - A Sparkling Gem!
From what I could gather, Wonder Time is pretty new, having opened just a few months ago. Here's the lowdown:
Pros:
- Super clean! You can really tell they prioritize cleanliness.
- Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Always ready to assist!
- Prime location! Right next to Taipei Main Station, making it so easy to get around.
- Tons of food options nearby, and guess what? There's even a Cong Ca Phe right around the corner! 😂
- They keep the common areas smelling fresh with regular air freshener sprays, and I was seriously impressed by the Dyson hair dryer for guests & the automatic 🍑 freshener in the bathroom!😍
Cons:
- The double room is a little on the smaller side.
- Shared bathrooms only.
- Towels and room cleaning are free every 3-4 days, but if you want them daily, there's a small charge. (Not sure if this is a con, but I thought I'd mention it!😂)
- No laundry facilities yet, as the machines are still being tested.
💰Price: Around 450k VND/night (~$15 USD)
❗️Rating: 9/10 – I'd definitely stay here again!
2️⃣ Owlstay Flip Flop Hostel - Garden - A Cozy Retreat
Owlstay Flip Flop Hostel - Garden is another fantastic option near Taipei Main Station! Similar to Wonder Time, it's clean and the staff are amazing. Here are some extras that make it special:
Pros:
- Spacious common area with a kitchen and large tables – perfect for enjoying meals!
- You get a voucher for 70NT$ off food and 30NT$ off drinks at the breakfast place right in front: 好初早餐 (Hao Chu Breakfast). They have delicious sandwiches, salads, hamburgers, and are pretty famous among locals.
- They have a small bookstore inside (though the selection is limited).
- The decor is super cute, and the designs look really professional! 🤣
- Laundry machines available (but only one of each! 😔)
Cons:
- The double room is a bit small. 🥹
- Like Wonder Time, towels and cleaning are free every 3-4 days, but daily requests have a small charge.
- They have two types of rooms: attic rooms (no windows, a bit stuffy, and the stairs are a little inconvenient) & rooms with beds near the window (brighter, but even smaller than Wonder Time's rooms! 🤣)
💰 Price: Around 500k VND/night (~$17 USD), but it can go up to 700k~1 million VND (~$24-$34 USD) on weekends.
❗️ Rating: 9.5/10 – I'm definitely coming back! I've stayed in a 4-bed dorm here before (reviewed it previously) and loved it, which is why I returned!
😍 In Conclusion: Both of these hostels are fantastic choices! They also have dorm rooms, so solo travelers should consider them too! 🥰 I hope this helps you plan your perfect trip! 😌
