Kuala Lumpur: 3 Days, 2 Nights of Pure Relaxation!
Just got back and had to share! This trip was so chill, perfect for anyone wanting a vacation without the stress and exhaustion. We chose Kuala Lumpur because we'd already explored Penang, and this time we wanted a big city with convenience, delicious food, beautiful sights, and most importantly, no complicated planning!
Day 1 – April 25, 2025
Getting There:
We flew directly from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Kuala Lumpur (KUL) with Vietnam Airlines. The flight was on time and smooth. Round-trip tickets were around 4,500,000 VND per person (including checked baggage and a light meal on board).
Other Expenses:
- Pre-flight snack: A sandwich and drink at the airport cost around 80,000 VND.
- 4G SIM card at KL airport: A 7-day package with unlimited 3Mbps speed and local call minutes cost approximately 250,000 VND.
- Grab from KL airport to the hotel: Since we chose a hotel right in the city center, the Grab ride took about 1.5 hours and cost around 490,000 VND for two (~245,000 VND per person).
Accommodation:
We stayed at Tropicana The Residence KLCC – an amazing location just a few minutes' walk from the Petronas Twin Towers. The interior was beautiful, and the view was incredible. The room cost 3,560,000 VND for 2 nights (~1,780,000 VND per person). We also paid a deposit of 200 MYR (~1,240,000 VND), which was refunded at check-out.
Important Tip:
For anyone traveling to Malaysia: the electrical outlets are different from Vietnam, so bring a travel adapter! I forgot mine this time and had to buy one at the hotel for a hefty price (around 150,000 VND for 2 adapters).
I highly recommend preparing a universal travel adapter before you go.
Day 2 – April 26, 2025
Woke up after a great night's sleep and the KL view immediately brightened my mood!
We decided to visit The Exchange TRX – a brand new, modern shopping mall that houses the first Apple Store in Malaysia.
- Grab rides to and from cost about 440,000 VND for two.
- Llaollao – delicious Spanish frozen yogurt – we ordered 2 cups, which cost nearly 230,000 VND. Totally worth it!
- P'Jay, being a matcha fan, couldn't resist ordering a cup for about 160,000 VND 😆
- For lunch, we had Din Tai Fung – a famous Taiwanese restaurant with branches in Thailand and Malaysia – a meal for two cost around 780,000 VND.
- In the evening, we went for a "fancy" dinner at Mesa on 51 – Sky Bar, since our original choice was fully booked.
- The rooftop atmosphere was chill, and the food and drinks were light: 1,400,000 VND – consider it a gift to each other after many tiring days at work 🥹
We ended the day with delicious roti right at the foot of the Twin Towers – I love its buttery, crispy flavor. P'Jay treated me to the meal, so sweet! 🥰
Day 3 – April 27, 2025
We checked out of the hotel at 9:30 AM and got our deposit back.
The Grab ride to the airport took over an hour and cost 750,000 VND, split in half, that's 375,000 VND per person.
Final Thoughts:
Kuala Lumpur is definitely a city worth revisiting. It's clean, modern, easy to navigate, reasonably priced, and the people are friendly.
If you're looking for a "beautiful – chill – not tiring" trip, this is the perfect choice.
I'll definitely be back. 🇲🇾🫶
