Chasing Tulips: A Day Trip from Antwerp to Amsterdam!
The weather has been absolutely glorious lately, bathed in sunshine ☀️, so we didn't hesitate! The whole family piled into the car for a 2-hour drive from Antwerp to Amsterdam 🚗 to catch the tulip season in all its vibrant glory 🌷!
April marks the Tulip Festival in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 – truly the prime time to witness this iconic flower at its most spectacular. If you're planning a visit, you have two main options:
Two Ways to Experience Tulip Mania
- Keukenhof Gardens – the largest flower garden in Europe 🌼, boasting an incredible variety of blooms.
- Or, like us, you can visit The Tulip Experience – a charming "tulip museum" 🏡 that's also a working farm.
Our Choice: The Tulip Experience
We opted for The Tulip Experience and were absolutely delighted! It's incredibly kid-friendly 👶👧👦, with plenty of space, interactive activities, and a relaxed atmosphere that our children loved.
Don't Miss the Tulip Soup!
There's also a cozy little cafe on the grounds ☕🥪 – be sure to try their specialty: tulip bulb soup! 🥣 It's a unique culinary experience. If you try it, let me know what you think!
A Blooming Souvenir
One thing I particularly appreciated was that everyone receives 5 tulip bulbs 🌷🧅 to take home – you can plant them and look forward to your own tulip display next spring!
Explore the Fields
After your visit, consider cycling 🚲, walking 🚶, or driving 🚙 to a nearby village to admire the colorful tulip fields. We unfortunately missed out on that part, but even from a distance, they looked breathtaking!
Planning Your Trip
If you're planning a trip in April, definitely consider adding this beautiful destination to your itinerary!
