A Review of Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel Genting Highlands: Mountain View and Facilities

Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel, Genting Highlands: A Detailed Review

Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel Genting Highlands: My Stay (4-5/5/25)

Following my stay at 1001 Nights Hotel, I moved next door to the Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel, another gem in the Wyndham chain. I previously visited in July 2024 shortly after its grand opening. This time, I redeemed a RM200 voucher earned through my hotel membership, acquired for RM88. After applying the voucher, my stay cost only RM47.50, inclusive of taxes, but excluding breakfast.

Swift Check-in and Room Overview

I arrived at the front desk around 12:45 PM and checked in smoothly. A RM3 tourism tax, mandated by the Pahang State Government, was payable during check-in. With my access card in hand, I headed to the elevators. The hotel boasts seven elevators, so wait times were minimal.

This visit placed me on Level 22. The room layout mirrored my July 2024 experience, but the view differed significantly. I had a mountain view this time, a departure from the Genting Highlands peak vista I enjoyed previously. The room spanned 376 square feet.

Inside the Room

The bathroom was immediately to the right upon entry. To the left was an open closet area with hanging space and a safe. A cabinet along the left wall near the bed housed a sink and mini-fridge, with coffee and tea-making facilities above. Between the cabinet and bed sat an armchair and small round table. A work desk stretched along the wall opposite the foot of the bed, topped by a 55-inch TV.

Bathroom Amenities

The compact bathroom features a sink, toilet, and shower area. The shower has two showerheads enclosed by clear glass. A bidet is located beside the toilet. The hotel provided complete toiletries.

Swimming Pools and Leisure Facilities

Similar to 1001 Nights Hotel, the swimming pools are located on Level 13. There are two main pools, one indoor and one outdoor, along with several generously sized children's pools. The pool is open from 8 AM to 9 PM. The same level also includes a gym, sauna, and steam room. A spa is available within the hotel too.

Connectivity and Other Amenities

The hotel offers reasonably fast but somewhat unstable WiFi. Speeds reached up to 98mbps. However, mobile data reception was problematic within the room, only accessible from the balcony. CelcomDigi recorded speeds of 130mbps, while TuneTalk reached only 7mbps. The hotel provides basic TV channels, including Vision Four, all in HD. Water pressure in the bathroom was strong. Ample parking is available, free for hotel guests.

Final Thoughts: Wyndham Ion Majestic and Hard Rock Cafe

Personally, I enjoy both the Wyndham Ion Majestic and 1001 Nights. The cool climate and scenic views are appealing. There's little difference between the two, as they share facilities within the Wyndham Ion Majestic building. Hard Rock Cafe fans will be pleased to know it has recently opened on Level 50. A smaller HRC shop is also located in the Wyndham Ion Majestic lobby. A highlight is the Hard Rock Cafe's swimming pool on Level 50. Entry costs RM120, including an HRC towel and snacks.

Location and Accessibility

Both hotels are 5km from SkyAvenue at the peak of Genting Highlands. A shuttle service to SkyAvenue is available hourly for RM7 each way. The hotel is roughly 10km from Genting Highlands Premium Outlets (GHPO). To reach GHPO, you can travel to SkyAvenue and then take the cable car. I plan to return, as I have two remaining Wyndham Ion Majestic vouchers and five 1001 Nights vouchers to redeem.
