Parisian Dreams: A Day Trip to Champagne
I'm still sharing snippets from my unforgettable trip to Paris in February. The whole experience was so magical, I think I might be suffering from a serious case of Paris syndrome!
This time, I want to tell you about our day trip to the Champagne region.
Reims Cathedral: Awe-Inspiring Grandeur
First stop: the breathtaking Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims. (Apologies in advance, this post is picture-heavy!)
We visited the Cathedral before embarking on our tour of several Champagne houses. Arriving around 9:30 am, we practically had the entire place to ourselves. It was perfect for a thorough exploration.
Many of you probably already know this, but I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to history. Apparently, this Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site!
It's where French kings were crowned, and there's even a statue of Joan of Arc, who visited with Charles VII.
The west portal depicts the story of the Virgin Mary, and I made sure to find the famous "Smiling Angel" sculpture.
The atmosphere was serene, majestic, and solemn. I got goosebumps, and not just because it was cold!
It was truly an amazing experience.
I'll share more about the Champagne houses and estates we visited in another post.
Thanks for reading!
