Singapore & Malaysia Entry Requirements - Updated March 27, 2025!
I. Singapore Entry: Breeze Through Immigration!
- Great news! No travel insurance is currently required.
- Complete the online SG Arrival Card (SGAC) via the MyICA Mobile app. Think of it as your digital passport!
- Fill it out within 3 days before your arrival (e.g., for a flight on the 10th, complete it on the 8th, 9th, or 10th). You'll need details like your name, where you'll be staying, and your entry date.
- Procrastinators, don't sweat! You can complete it at the airport if you forget.
- One person can complete the declaration for the whole family or group!
- FREE ALERT! This is a free service. DO NOT enter credit card details. Websites asking for credit card info are fake and will charge you around $70!
- Once you get the QR code, you're golden! Ignore any other notes in the confirmation email.
II. Malaysia Entry: Your Digital Arrival Card is Key!
- Malaysia also requires an online arrival card!
- Scan a QR code (usually provided upon arrival) to access the online form.
- CRITICAL WARNING: Completing the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is FREE!
- BEWARE OF FAKE WEBSITES! A deceptive ".online" website requesting credit card details (and charging ~$60!) may appear in your search results.
- Use the official Immigration Department of Malaysia website (ending in ".my") – look for their logo! Link: https://www.imi.gov.my/index.php/en/pengumuman/malaysia-digital-arrival-card-mdac/
III. Traveling with Children? Read This!
- IMPORTANT! All children, regardless of age, MUST have their own individual passport (new regulation!).
- Children aged 14 and under traveling with parents "may" be asked for a birth certificate with an official stamp (in addition to their passport).
- If traveling with someone other than parents (aunt, uncle, etc.), you'll need a "consent letter" allowing the child to travel. Search online for a template ("mẫu giấy đồng ý cho trẻ em xuất cảnh"), print it, and have both parents get it certified by the local authorities. Only the Vietnamese version is needed.
IV. Other Important Reminders:
- For women traveling solo, it's advisable to have a return ticket, hotel confirmation showing your name, and dress modestly.
- Finally: As long as your passport is valid for more than 6 months, you're good to go! No need to renew it. The new (dark purple, without place of birth) passport is accepted for entry into Singapore. Old passports with old ID card numbers are also fine.
