Hoi An: Your Ultimate Guide to Food, Fun, and Hidden Gems!
Getting There: From Da Nang to Hoi An
- I chose to ride my motorbike from Da Nang to Hoi An for a flexible itinerary. Best decision ever!
Hoi An Accommodation: Hoi An Fairy Garden Villa
- I stayed at Hoi An Fairy Garden Villa (46/3 Nguyễn Tri Phương), a secluded villa complex about 2km from the Ancient Town.
- Booked through Agoda for a steal! Beautiful, well-equipped rooms, pool view, free breakfast and bicycles. Seriously, 9/10! And I'm picky!
Exploring Hoi An: Getting Around
- Mostly used the free bicycles to get around! The 2km ride isn't a big deal, plus bikes are perfect for the pedestrian-friendly Ancient Town.
- For trips outside the Ancient Town, I used the motorbike I brought from Da Nang.
Things to Do in Hoi An: Experience the Magic!
- Hoi An's Ancient Town is compact, you can cover it in an afternoon. But here's how to maximize your experience:
- Early Morning: Witness Hoi An without the crowds, experience the local life and morning markets.
- Midday: Embrace the sunny vibes with those iconic yellow walls dappled with bougainvillea shadows! Picture perfect!
- Evening: Hoi An comes alive with lanterns and bustling streets filled with bars playing cool jazz. So hip!
- Lucky me! I visited on the full moon, so Hoi An turned off all the lights! Check the lunar calendar for an extra magical trip!
Foodie Adventures: Hoi An Eats! (A Southern Palate's Perspective)
Alright, foodies! Get ready for my personal (and admittedly Southern-biased) Hoi An food guide! Your tastebuds may vary!
- Banh Mi Phuong: (2B Phan Châu Trinh) So famous for a reason! Seriously amazing! Recommend the grilled pork and grilled pork with cheese.
- Banh Mi Madame Khanh: (115 Trần Cao Vân) Different vibes, but both banh mi spots are delicious in their own way. Plus, Madame Khanh is usually less crowded.
- Cao Lau & Grilled Pork Skewers: (132 Nguyễn Thái Học) The grilled pork skewers were FIRE! Cao Lau isn't my personal fave, but it's a must-try for the experience. Great prices too!
- Tao Pho (Tofu Pudding) & Xu Xoa: You can find these everywhere in Hoi An and they're all delicious! So refreshing!
- Che Bap (Corn Sweet Soup): Same as above! Sweet corn goodness!
- Ben Xua Restaurant: A bit outside the Ancient Town (motorcycle recommended). The drive over the Cẩm Kim bridge is super scenic and less touristy. Delicious food, reasonable prices, and you can eat on a floating raft! So relaxing!
- Com Ga Long (Chicken Rice): (53/16 Phan Châu Trinh) Perfect for my taste! Affordable and way less crowded than Com Ga Ba Buoi!
- Banana Leaf Restaurant: An Asian restaurant on Bạch Đằng street with Thu Bon river views. Perfect for sunset drinks and river gazing! The pomelo salad with dried squid is a MUST-TRY! Great value for the quality.
- Mot: Cheap and refreshing! I loved it, but some people find the flavor a bit unique. (150 Trần Phú)
- Faifo Coffee: (130 Trần Phú) The drinks and pastries aren't anything special and a bit pricey, BUT the view is the best in Hoi An for photos! I'll mark the location on my photos!
That's enough to keep you busy for 2 days! Hope you have an amazing trip!
