Go Plus + Review: Features, Sleep Integration, and Quirks (So Far)

First Impressions: Pokémon GO Plus + - Is it Worth the Hype?

Just got my hands on the brand-new Pokémon GO Plus +, released on July 14, 2023, and I'm here to share my initial thoughts! 😜

What's New? Spinning Stops, Gyms, and Catching Pokémon - But Better!

  • Enhanced Auto-Catching: Like the original Go Plus and Gotcha, but with improvements! Expect approximately 60 minutes of connection time.
  • Charging Time: Takes about 3.5 hours to fully charge. I haven't fully tested battery life yet since it's still charging! :v
  • Pikachu Sounds: Prepare for some cheerful Pikachu sounds when connecting! It even makes sleepy noises when disconnecting! =))))) (Thankfully, you can disable the audio).
  • Intense Vibrations & Lights: The device vibrates and lights up intensely! I haven't found an option to disable the vibration yet :v
  • Great & Ultra Ball Support (Manual): You can finally use Great Balls and Ultra Balls in manual mode! (The old version only allowed Poké Balls.) Auto-catching is still limited to Poké Balls =.= (Apparently Niantic fixed the initial 4 days where it auto-used all 3 ball types...)

Pokémon Sleep Integration: Dream Big, Catch More!

This is where things get interesting! The GO Plus + integrates with Pokémon Sleep!

  • Special Research: Connecting to Pokémon GO unlocks special research for a SLEEPING CAP SNORLAX! Getting the quest is easy, but completing it will be a nightmare without your own Plus + =.= (I'll include images of the quest below).
  • Sleep Tracking: Before hitting the hay, press the main button on the Go Plus + -> The green light will blink, indicating it's tracking your sleep data. Do the same when you wake up, and it will automatically add your sleep data to the game! (A sleep session must be at least 90 minutes. I wonder if faking sleep will work? =))))))
  • Daily Rewards: Receive Stardust, stickers, and buddy hearts at a set time each day (which you can customize), but be aware that this will reset the previous 24 hours of data!
  • Quest Sharing is Risky: Helping someone else complete a quest will erase your previous sleep data! =.= And connecting back to your main account also deletes the sleep data from the helper account! So yeah, you pretty much NEED your own Go Plus + to fully complete the quest! Niantic's logic is off the charts =)))))

I'm still exploring! 😆 There's even a Pikachu lullaby! ❤️

#GoPlus+

P.S. The built-in lanyard attachment is a nice touch! But if you can't turn off the vibration, it might be a bit much for some people. =)))))))
