Con Dao 3D2N: Your Ultimate Island Getaway!

Con Dao, a stunning district in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, is calling your name! Whether you're seeking historical reflection or breathtaking scenery, this island paradise has it all. Getting there is half the adventure, and you have two options: the fast ferry or a flight. Let's dive in!

Getting Around: Soaring to Serenity ✈️

Personally, I'm not a fan of seasickness and time is precious, so I chose to fly. Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Hanoi, so I had to fly to Saigon and then transfer to Con Dao.

  • Flights: I booked my round-trip ticket on TRAVELOKA for 7 million VND per person. Pro-tip: Con Dao flights tend to be on the pricier side, so book early for the best deals!
  • Traveloka Deals! From March 31st to May 11th, use code BAYLESOM for 60-120k VND off, or BAYLESOM1TR for a whopping 1 million VND discount! Don't miss out!
  • Con Dao Transport: We rented a motorbike from our hotel for 150k VND per day. Shared taxis from the airport to the hotel cost 50k VND per person.

Your Island Home: Where to Stay 🏠

Con Dao boasts a variety of hotels and homestays to suit every budget.

  • Accommodation: We booked Duc Thanh 2 Hotel on Traveloka for 500k VND per night. Clean rooms and a convenient location - a total win!

3 Days of Paradise: The Itinerary You Need! 🗺️

Day 1: Hanoi - Con Dao (The Journey Begins!)

Connecting flights eat up a lot of time, so Day 1 was mostly travel. We landed at Con Dao Airport around 5 PM. Outside the airport, you'll find plenty of shared taxis. We hopped in a 7-seater for 50k VND/person.

After checking into the hotel and freshening up, we had dinner nearby. Then, at 7:30 PM, we visited Hang Duong Cemetery to pay our respects to Cô Sáu (the cemetery closes at 9 PM). We bought offerings right at the entrance and then headed back to the hotel.

Day 2: Exploring Con Dao's Spiritual Side and Sunset Views

We woke up at 7 AM for breakfast and then embarked on a spiritual tour, visiting Van Son Pagoda, Mieu Nam Co (Five Ladies Temple), Mieu Ba Phi Yen, Mieu Cau Cai, and Mieu Tho Than.

In the afternoon, we headed to Bai Nhat Beach and Mui Ca Map (Shark Cape) to chase the sunset and capture stunning photos of the coastal road. For dinner, we indulged in delicious coconut ice cream at Phan Chu Trinh street.

Day 3: Iconic Landmarks and Farewell Views

Today was all about checking off the remaining must-see spots: Cau Tau 914 (Pier 914), Mui Chan Chim (Chim Foot Cape), Bai Dam Trau (for airplane spotting!), and the freshwater lake next to Bai Dam Trau.

In the afternoon, we flew back to Hanoi. Con Dao Airport is quite small, so arriving 30 minutes before your flight is plenty of time.

Budget Breakdown: What to Expect 💰

  • Taxi to Noi Bai Airport: 250k VND/person
  • Round-trip Flight: 7,000k VND/person
  • Hotel: 1,000k VND/2 people
  • Motorbike Rental + Gas: 340k VND/2 people
  • Airport Transfer: 100k VND/person
  • Food: 1 million VND/2 people
  • Total: Approximately 9,690k VND/person (excluding offerings at Con Dao)

Con Dao boasts beautiful and untouched beaches. If you're planning a visit to pay your respects, consider staying an extra day or two to explore the island's other attractions! It's worth it!
