Craving Hai Phong's Banh Da Cua in Phú Mỹ Hưng? You Gotta Try This! 🍲

Strolling through Phú Mỹ Hưng one evening, I was completely lured in by an irresistible aroma! Naturally, I had to investigate. 🕵️‍♀️

A Unique Take on a Classic

This place offers a delicious twist compared to other Banh Da Cua spots in Saigon. The broth's distinct flavor isn't from crab (cua) but from minced sea crab (ghẹ biển)! It's packed with rich crab paste (riêu), delivering a subtly sweet taste with a hint of shrimp shell broth – seriously impressive! 👌

Generous Portions & Tasty Toppings

The 60k bowl was surprisingly filling. We're talking loads of toppings: two kinds of meatball (mọc viên), fish cake (chả cá), and grilled betel leaf sausage (chả lá lốt) – all in large, delicious portions! Apparently, it doesn't usually come with mantis shrimp (tôm tích) in the base bowl. But mine had one, and it was incredibly firm and tasty. The owner explained that because I came late, she tossed one in as a bonus; the 80k bowl is meant to have 2! Thanks, lady! 😊

Spice it Up! 🔥

They use "chí chương" (Hai Phong chili sauce) here, which isn't sour like other places but is CRAZY spicy! 🥵 To cool down, I ordered iced tea (only 2k a glass!). It was refreshingly sweet and fragrant because the shop, which doubles as a spa, uses Xạ Đen tea for their iced tea. How cool is that?

Verdict: Delicious & Unexpectedly Awesome! 👍
