Shanghai Disneyland Adventure: Pro Tips & Tricks!
Hey everyone! I'm so excited to share some awesome tips from my recent trip to Disneyland Shanghai. Get ready for a magical experience!
I managed to ride ALL the hot attractions (even the mini ones!) in a single day, with plenty of time to eat, relax, and catch the spectacular fireworks show at 8:30 PM. Here's how:
1. Tickets, Tickets, Tickets!
- Easiest Option: Buy through apps like Klook or Trip. Tickets are linked to your passport, so just show it at the entrance and you're in!
- Deals & Discounts: If your travel dates are set, look for pre-booking deals (10-30 days in advance) for cheaper tickets.
- Last-Minute? No Worries! Prices don't fluctuate too drastically. I bought mine a week before, and the price increase was minimal.
- Fast Pass: While it grants priority access to rides, it significantly increases the cost. If budget allows, it can save you tons of time! Personally, I found the waiting lines part of the Disney atmosphere. Give it a try! 😍
2. Getting There: Easy Peasy!
Taxi, Bus, or Metro – all options take you directly to Disneyland's gates!
I took the Metro from downtown Shanghai; it was super cheap (only 5 RMB) and really convenient.
3. Conquer the Rides: My Strategy
👉 MUST-HAVE: Download the Disney Shanghai app! It's a lifesaver!
- Real-Time Wait Times: See up-to-the-minute wait times for rides and show schedules. HOT rides have wait times of 30+ minutes, so strategize wisely.
- Everything You Need: Find restaurants, restrooms, charging stations, and even browse menus!
Here's my ride itinerary:
- TRON Lightcycle Power Run: Head left upon entering the park. This ride gets super busy midday, so tackle it first!
- Rex Racer: Right next to TRON. Skip if TRON was too intense! 😉
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: A gentle and shorter ride – perfect for a breather. BONUS: The pizza place in this area is delicious for a light lunch!
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: A super long roller coaster! If you love thrills, jump in line!
- Zootopia: Hot Pursuit: One of the BEST rides in the entire park! A MUST-DO!
- Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure: Don't miss the HUGE turkey leg here! Seriously!
- Soaring Over the Horizon: For me, this was the ULTIMATE ride! Experience a simulated flight over breathtaking landscapes! 🤣
Note: I skipped the musical shows (performed live at specific times in certain areas - check the map) and the mini-rides for kids (short wait times of 15-20 minutes).
Tips & Tricks for a Magical Day!
- Food: Disney food is pricey but worth trying for the experience (around 85-125 RMB).
- Charging: Rent a power bank using Alipay! Only 2.5 RMB for 30 minutes with a 99 RMB deposit.
- Fireworks: The fireworks show starts at 8:30 PM, but prime viewing spots fill up as early as 7:30 PM. Bundle up if it's cold!
- Disneytown: Located to the left of the ticket gates, it's a great place for souvenir shopping. If you are short on time, souvenir shops are within each attraction area. Grab those cute accessories! 🥰
