Phuket, Thailand: My DIY Adventure - You NEED This Guide! 🇹🇭🏝🌊
Okay, so tons of people have reviewed Phuket, but everyone's experience is different, right? So, I'm sharing MY hard-earned wisdom from my recent trip! I spent 5 days in Thailand (3 in Bangkok, 2 in Phuket), but I'm focusing on Phuket here because it's AMAZING. Planning a post-holiday getaway? Check this out!
Getting There & Around: Pro Tips!
- Flights: Snag your Bangkok-Phuket flights ASAP! Booked a month out and only paid 900k VND (round trip)! Score!
- Accommodation: I stayed in Old Phuket Town. Seriously, BEST location for eats and entertainment.
- Transportation: Ditch the taxis if you can! They'll rip you off – like 500 baht (380k VND) per kilometer! No thanks! Take the bus from the airport – just ask around; it's about 1.5 hours to town.
- My Secret Weapon: MOTORBIKE! Rented a bike for ultimate freedom (and that sweet backpacker vibe =)))))). It's 300 baht (225k VND) per day, or 200 baht if you rent longer. Just leave your passport as collateral. Hotel staff can usually hook you up!
Phuket Itinerary: Let's Go!
Day 1: Under the Sea & Artistic Illusions!
After flights and the bus, half the day's gone! If you're an underwater creature fan (sharks, penguins, the works!), hit up Aquaria at Central World. It's Thailand's BIGGEST aquarium! Then, swing by the Trick Eye AR Museum (also in Central World – easy combo!). Aquarium closes at 7 PM. End the day at Chivalla night market for souvenirs and gifts!
Day 2: Vitamin SEA Overload! ☀️
This was THE day! I booked a tour (8 AM - 5 PM) for only $36 (800k VND) and it was packed with awesome stuff. Seriously, check the link below if you're interested!
The Epic Day Trip Breakdown:
- 8 AM: Hotel pickup! Super convenient. They give you the lowdown on the day (my group was mostly Westerners – very polite!).
- Important: Forget your fancy beach sandals! You can't wear them on the boat (sand problems!). They'll try to sell you water shoes for 350 baht, but TRUST ME, they're worth it! Total foot protection from all the ocean nasties =))))) and super comfy. Buy anything else you need BEFORE you get to the islands - prices triple!
- 9 AM: Boat leaves for Koh Phi Phi (one of the cleanest beaches in the WORLD!). It's about an hour to get there. You only have an hour on Phi Phi, so snap those pics and explore fast!
- 10 AM: 15-minute hop to Monkey Beach! Only 20 minutes on the island, so get those monkey selfies!
- 10:20 AM: Snorkeling Time! Gear up, jump in, and be amazed! I think we snorkeled for around 25 minutes. It's GORGEOUS under there! Grab a waterproof phone case to capture the magic.
- Post-Snorkel: Refuel with free drinks, watermelon, and pineapple! Then, nap for 40 minutes while the boat cruises on!
- Next Stop: Viking Cave & Maya Bay (from "The Beach"!). Sadly, Maya Bay is closed, so you can only see it from afar :((.
- 12 PM: Buffet Lunch on a special island! Seriously good and satisfying =))). Don't worry about being hungry!
- Around 2 PM: Koh Khao Nai (or Khao Nok?) for swimming and activities! Kayaking, banana boat, snorkeling... I went for the Jet Ski! SO worth it, even if it's pricey. Live a little!
- 4 PM: Activities done, boat heads back to Phuket.
- 5 PM: Hotel drop-off. Boom!
This isn't sponsored, promise! Just sharing my experiences and making memories. Thanks for reading my Phuket adventure!
