A Relaxing 2-Day Getaway to Binh Chau: The Ultimate Weekend Escape
Last weekend, my family was craving a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of Ho Chi Minh City, so we decided to head to Binh Chau – Ho Tram for a relaxing retreat. We had such a wonderful time that I wanted to share our experience for anyone planning a similar trip.
Day 1: Arrival and Coastal Relaxation
We hit the road from Ho Chi Minh City and arrived in Binh Chau in just over three hours. By midday, we stopped at a local family-style restaurant near the entrance to the hot springs. The meal was simple, authentic, and tasted just like a home-cooked country feast.
After lunch, we checked into Blue Sapphire Binh Chau. This guesthouse is perfectly located, offering easy access to both the hot springs and the coast.
- Nearby hotspots: Binh Chau Hot Springs (1.2km), Local Beach (2.5km), Hodota (3km), and Bangkok Water Park (1km).
The rooms were clean and quiet. The hosts, a young couple who left the city to start their own business, were incredibly professional and welcoming. They even gave us a curated list of local dining spots, saving us from the usual tourist traps and overpriced restaurants.
After a quick afternoon nap, we headed to the local beach, just a 5-minute drive away. The water is pristine, and since it isn't overly crowded, it was the perfect spot to swim and catch a breathtaking sunset. Tip: If you're traveling with children, the Bangkok Water Park nearby is a great option with plenty of fun activities for just 90k VND.
For dinner, we followed our host’s recommendations for fresh, local-priced seafood. Afterward, we enjoyed a stroll around town, grabbing some traditional Vietnamese sweet soup (chè), flan, and milk tea before heading back to rest.
Day 2: Healing at the Hot Springs
We started the morning with a local favorite: Binh Chau fish cake soup (bánh canh chả cá). It’s a must-try dish if you’re ever in the area! Energized, we headed to Minera Hot Springs Binh Chau, the region’s most iconic destination.
Traveler Tip: Buy your tickets directly through your guesthouse! We saved 35k VND per person compared to the gate price at the resort.
The park offers a variety of unique experiences, including:
- Taking a peaceful walk through the lush natural forest.
- Boiling eggs in the naturally heated mineral water.
- Relaxing with a soothing mineral foot bath.
- Visiting the crocodile pond.
We spent the rest of our time soaking in the various herbal mineral pools, followed by a sauna and a therapeutic massage. After the soak, we felt completely rejuvenated—the ultimate way to recharge for the week ahead.
By late afternoon, we enjoyed a light meal and hit the road back to Ho Chi Minh City, wrapping up a perfectly refreshing 2-day, 1-night getaway.
