Modern Sophistication at Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur: A Full Review
Returning to the Hyatt Centric City Centre Kuala Lumpur after its official opening on December 18, 2024, felt like a breath of fresh air. Located on Jalan Sultan Ismail—in the iconic building formerly known as Wisma KFC—this Hyatt property brings a stylish, contemporary edge to the city's hotel scene. For this stay (January 21-22, 2026), I booked a Premium Room via Trip.com for RM432.43 inclusive of taxes.
Arrival and First Impressions
I arrived at approximately 1:30 PM and was immediately struck by the spacious, aesthetically pleasing lobby. The check-in process was seamless, taking only a few minutes, and notably, no security deposit was required during this visit. The lobby also houses a chic restaurant, setting the tone for the hotel’s design-led atmosphere.
The Premium Room Experience
Located on the 6th floor, the Premium Room offers a generous 505 square feet of living space. The layout is thoughtfully designed for the modern traveler:
- Smart Storage: An open-concept wardrobe and luggage rack sit near the entrance, keeping the room feeling airy.
- Amenities: The room features a mini-fridge, a premium coffee machine, an electric kettle, and a safety deposit box. I particularly appreciated the four glass bottles of drinking water provided.
- Living Area: A plush King bed is complemented by a large sofa and a dedicated circular workstation. For entertainment, there is a massive 65-inch wall-mounted TV.
- The Balcony: The room includes a spacious balcony with a table and chairs, offering a partial but impressive view of the Petronas Twin Towers.
Bathroom and Facilities
The bathroom features a split design located behind the luggage area. The toilet and walk-in shower are separate; however, it is worth noting that the doors do not have locks. In line with modern luxury standards, the toilet uses an integrated electronic bidet system rather than a traditional hand hose. The shower area is spacious, featuring dual shower heads and a full suite of quality toiletries.
The hotel’s crown jewel is the rooftop infinity pool on Level 21. It offers stunning, unobstructed views of the Petronas Twin Towers and is open from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Also on this level:
- A 24-hour fitness center.
- A stylish poolside café.
- A circular sky bridge for panoramic city views.
- Access to another signature restaurant on Level 19.
Connectivity and Technical Details
For digital nomads and business travelers, the connectivity is excellent. The complimentary in-room Wi-Fi clocked in at 49mbps, while mobile speeds for CelcomDigi and Tune Talk reached 167mbps and 146mbps, respectively. The TV offers a wide variety of high-definition channels. For those driving, valet parking is available for a flat rate of RM10.
Location and Accessibility
The Hyatt Centric’s location is incredibly strategic for exploring Kuala Lumpur on foot:
- Suria KLCC: 750 meters (10-minute walk).
- Pavilion Bukit Bintang: 950 meters (13-minute walk).
- KL Tower: 1.2 km (15-minute walk).
- Public Transport: Only 400 meters from the Raja Chulan Monorail Station.
Final Verdict
While Hyatt properties are positioned at a higher price point, the facilities and design here make it a worthwhile investment. The interior design is a standout feature, filled with "Instagrammable" corners perfect for photography enthusiasts. The service is warm and professional.
Minor Considerations: The ceilings feel slightly low, which may make the room feel a bit snug to some, and the lack of bathroom door locks might be a concern for those sharing the room. However, if you value style, location, and world-class views, this is one of the top hotels I recommend in Kuala Lumpur.
