Starlink satellite internet service establishes four ground stations in Vietnam
Starlink, Elon Musk's satellite internet service, has established four ground stations (gateways) in Phu Tho, Da Nang, and two locations in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to a license granted by the Department of Radio Frequency - Ministry of Science and Technology, Starlink Services Vietnam company is authorized to use frequencies and install radio equipment for fixed satellite service at Lien Chieu 2 ward (Da Nang), Binh Nguyen commune (Phu Tho), Tang Nhon Phu ward and Tan Thuan ward (Ho Chi Minh City).
Starlink satellites operate in low Earth orbit, 550 km above the ground, while traditional satellite internet uses geostationary satellites at altitudes above 35,000 km. The shorter distance helps reduce data transmission time, thereby providing lower latency compared to traditional satellite internet services.
