Jangjeon-ri: Jeju's Hidden Cherry Blossom Tunnel, Beautiful Day or Night

Jangjeon-ri (장전리): The cherry blossom viewing road that's "small but mighty" in Aewol, Jeju — even more beautiful at night than during the day
If Jeonnong-ro is the most famous name every cherry blossom season in Jeju, then Jangjeon-ri (장전리 벚꽃길) in Aewol County is the kind of spot that locals often call a "hidden gem" — fewer noisy tourists, but no less beautiful.

The cherry blossom road in Jangjeon-ri is formed by ancient cherry trees on both sides of the path, with their canopies intertwining into a tunnel of pure white flowers — the kind of natural tunnel that's quite common in Jeju on old village roads or hillsides. However, this road is a bit short — that's the point many people honestly comment on: "very beautiful, but it ends too quickly". Nevertheless, that also means it doesn't take too much time to visit, very suitable for a quick stop in a packed day itinerary.

This place has two completely different "modes" for viewing. Daytime: pure white cherry blossoms falling with the wind, along with rows of tulips, camellias, azaleas, and rapeseed flowers along the road — sitting on stone benches, sunbathing, feeling the cool breeze is truly very chill. Nighttime: the entire row of trees is lit with colored lights, creating a brilliant, romantic spectacle in a completely different style — this is also why many people call it Jeju's "ideal dating spot". However, there are also opposing views: some people find the LED lights attached directly to the trees a bit artificial and detracting from the pure beauty of the flowers — just a matter of taste!

During the festival season (usually from March 23-24 to early April), the road is closed to vehicles and there are additional street food stalls — viewing flowers while snacking is quite fun. Even if you arrive after the festival ends, the area is still open and worth visiting if the flowers haven't all fallen yet.

Suggestions if you visit: For peace and quiet, come 1-2 days before the main festival — the flowers aren't fully bloomed yet but there are far fewer people, making it much more comfortable to view. If you want the maximum beauty for photos, you must return in the evening when the lights are on — especially during festival week. The location is in Aewol-eup, about 20-25 minutes drive from Jeju city center, parking is not difficult.
